Have you looked into the cost of track rental for a day at any of these places? What about corner workers? Do that be we? Will track insurance honor untrained corner workers? I know you guys did something at Little Talladega. I believe the organizer provided the corner workers. Is my memory serving well?
Very meticulous Al, as always, all things that will be addressed when we decide on a spot, because various tracks differ. I'd say we give it until the end of the month to decide, although I think VIR will win anyways, we have ample time to get this together.

Talladega is a small track and therefore pretty much everything is on your own, at bigger tracks you can rent corner workers as well, and sometimes that's your only option unless we have official workers, I doubt VIR would allow untrained workers there, I'm pretty sure I never have seen any at Road Atlanta either.

i say we just confirm VIR with all the 6speeders and then get all the ball about the date and rental cost. hopefully, we can get 50-60+ people to sign up. b/c we know not everybody will be able to make it that signed up in the beginning. hopefully, leaving us with 25 or more 6speeders

Better idea might be to register with one of the open marque groups like PDA or SCDA and enter one of their events. Usually well run with plenty of track time and instructors for the novices. Cheaper too!

NP

I have contacted VIR for more info on rental rates etc. The one thing I do not want to do it get stuck as the main planner for this event and not get any track time so you best beleive I'm gonna need some help.

Other than that it is coming along nicely. We can do a few things, I thought about unviting NCM (something about some corvettes), Viper Days and Cobra R club so we could fill up some space and have less overall cost. And mix breeds a little with some mature drivers. Other than that we would in fact be involved in a track day of someone elses, which I dont mind, but it has to be the right one.

I agree we need to go ahead and confirm but let me hear back from VIR before we cut off the pole and decide.

I would be coming from NJ so would prefer VIR. Could possibly bring a couple of Porsche buddies along.

Well, if this is really going to happen and we are all bringing our expensive cars to the track. How will the run groups (if any) be decided.
PCA rules? NASA, Chin?
Instructors? and who are they?
All solo only? Licensed racers in one group fast and slow solo groups and then people who need instruction?
What about passing? point by only? Passing on straights only? Open passing on straights and point byes in corners. ***** out full track open passing no signals?
I would really like to know the qualifications of the other drivers around me before I get out there. so when people "sign up" how bout they get assigned to run groups then we can really see who we are running with.
Just some thoughts......

Well that would be great and very cool but still need to have run groups rules etc so we dont have a million dollar pile up or worse someone gets hurt.

And really what is recognized ie Porsche Nationally Certified instructors or some form of recognized race licence, SCCA etc.
Everyone should have fun but mixing racers with DEers may not work well?
