sorry to be the odd man out
I have had my 01 TT for 18 months and made 12-15 x > 5 hour trips without a problem.
I am a Physical therapist(Physio in Aus) and suggest that you guys play around with the adjustability a bit.
Some hints:
1. Tilt the seat cushion so that your thighs are higher than your
backside..very important to keep the Lumbar area supported & relaxed)
2. bring your seat forward so that you can comfortably reach both pedals
(these cars don't come in manual do they ) without altering your
lower back posture
3.use a round back roll behind your Lumbar area to keep it slightly arched
forward
4.Adjust the back support so that with your hands on the steering wheel and
your back resting on the seat, your elbows are bent.
The above may not work for everyone, but unless you are very tall, these seats have good adjustability and you should not suffer on trips lasting up to 5 hours.

Agree.
Adjustable torso and thigh bolsters might do the trick, but they would just add more weight..

Do any who have GT3 seats consider them too tight in the upper back/shoulder area?
I drove a fellow forum member's Turbo that has GT3 seats and really liked the support and driving position. The seats were pretty snug in the shoulder area, and although they were comfortable during the 20 minute drive, I wonder how they would feel after a couple of hours?

I sat in Maxwell's Gt3 seats and they were a little snug in the shoulder area. I'm 6'1" 200 lbs and wear a 46 jacket. Max told me that the seats do come in different sizes and you can get the large seats that are wider in the shoulder area.

i have an 02 996tt with the standard seats and they kill my back and hips. i tried sitting on a cushion and it helps, so im going try getting the seats rebuilt with a higher density foam and i hope that it will help. will let you guys know how it works out. 6'0, 240lbs, herniated discs.

I have used the GT3 seats for extended trips and actually prefer them to the OEM sport seats that came with the car. I have now sold my sport seats, as I do not see putting them back in the car. I use my car daily for post office, bank, lunch, office store, etc. and do not find the GT3 seats inconvenient. They add to the enjoyment of driving off in the car. Seated in the GT3 seats, even turning the ignition key feels better...
