I think it would look much better with black housings. The massive chrome headlights are the one thing i've never like about the 996 since it came out.

Here's a sample of a race car w/ black housings....

Please remember that these are quick Photoshops. If I spent some time on them, I could make them look very real, but unfortunately I have to work.

As far as doing these yourself, just select the area, and adjust the brightness and contrast. I usually work in layers which is a little more forgiving. Like I said, these are quickies.

Those are some cool ideas. I love the way the race car looks, so aggressive!

Do covers for the TT do the same thing....I thought there were some. Do they look "less than nice" to put it mildly. I know there is a 99 996 person on rennlist with them, and it is so-so. I wonder if darker colors work better?

Anyone have these on a TT?

Color match looks pretty cool.
I borrowed a picture from the GT2 thread from Vincent.

Now... how do we color match? Just have a paint shop just paint right over the outer lens??

As far as that H&R racecar headlights, That looks like a custom Lexan cover. Looks REALLY good.I'd do tha in a second if it was doable!

The internal portion of the headlight doesn't look stock. Looks like just the lights without turn signals??

Over the outer lens would not look good. We are trying to figure a way to paint the interior chrome and have it properly sealed back up.

How hard is it to remove the headlights? I would be willing to try.

Removing the headlights is very easy. Breaking the seal is another story. Here's how to remove the healights:

Inside your tool kit, there is a hex socket with a sliding Tee handle, on the inside of the trunk, remove the carpet on the affected side, remove large round rubber plug, insert hex socket and rotate, I believe clockwise on the drivers side. you will here a snap and see the whole lens assy slide forward. When the lens has freed itself from the clip, you will see inside, slide completely out. The rear lid of the assy is held on by a snap hinge, release and open, all your light bulbe will be accessable. Take much care upon reinsertion to have all the guide tabs in thier appropriate slots.

If I can get my seals cracked and replaced properly, I'll have mine professionally painted Basalt Black, just like my exterior.
