A Statge IV 996TT will do mid 11s in the 1/4 mile . . . perhaps lower 11s.

A stock C6ZO6 will do mid 11s in the 1/4 mile . . . some have done lower 11s.

Mid 11s vs mid 11s should not equal 8-9 cars. Lower 11s vs mid 11s should not equal 8-9 cars.

Then again, anything is possible on the street.

600 fwhp / 3400-3500 lbs (Tip) vs 500 fwhp / 3000-3100 lbs should not equal 8-9 cars.

What you see on the street means nothing. 9 times out of 10, the other person is not racing, starts in the wrong gear, or just messes up somehow. In this case, I suspect the person was not racing!

Just go by the 60 to 130 times. That's all you need. I race Z06s all the time in my Ruf and they're nearly exactly the same under 130 or so. The 60-130 times also show that.

Above 130 is a little different story. That's where gearing really starts to show. The german cars are usually geared for higher speed, and will pull most American cars at 150+. Sometimes it's a rediculous amount, even for the same horsepower and weight. I've seen this with Vipers and Vette's that are close under 130, but fall behind beyond that.

+1 isnt that like two bus lengths.

The only way that is possible is if when they stopped at the light the Z06 got a terrible launch, spun the tires and then bogged and the tip got a great launch, other than that the lengths are B.S. I can beleive a length or two from a roll but that's about it.

Guys, relax. Like some of you wrote, anything is possible in a street race. I wrote that when "I" let up I was 8-9 lengths ahead. For all I know the guy let up after I started passing him up at about 2-3 car lengths and by the time I looked in my rearview mirror I was 8-9 car lengths ahead. I was concentrating on the road ahead of me, not the road behind me before I looked in my rearview mirror. Also, the guy may not know how to race his car as good as someone like Ranger over at the Corvetteforum website who I believe got his Z06 into the 10's, stock. And by the way, for those of you who wrote that the guy was not racing, did you not read the part in my post where we actually stopped and chatted? The guy was racing, end of story. I'm not here to diss on the Z06 (I love the car and plan on getting one in about a year to keep my X50 company in the garage). I'm just sharing my race with you guys, that's all. In this race, on this day, the Porsche won.

so, SO true...At Pocono Raceway (170 mph speeds) it was nearly comical seeing what the turbo was able to DEMOLISH...but at those speeds (80 and under)...even 2-3 cls are pretty big...
