ZO6 Kill...stick a fork in him

OK, for those of you asking where are all the ZO6 kills here is one.

The sales manager of a local dealer ship (not Porsche) has a new ZO6, I was at the dealership picking up another car for my cooperate fleet. He talks some ****, I call him out. he says it has been "chipped" and that is all the mod’s he has on the ZO6.

I am running a '02 996tt with; Fabspeed Moderate, EVO air box, GIAC chip, setup for 109 octane (which I run exclusively), light flywheel, upgraded clutch, PSS9’s, billet diverter’s.

We ran from a dig, we ran from 20, 40, 60, top speed I saw was 162. All times the exact same results…PORSCHE there is no substitute.

One more thing I should note, I am in Albuquerque which is about 5,500ft up. I know that forced induction has a advangate when in higher altitudes.

The point is with all this mudane posts is that we porsche owners have to drop in an extra 20k to be faster then a z06.

So there you go

...actually only about 10k ;-) and i doubt the clutch work made much difference to that outcome.

I was SPANKED by a yellow Z06 from 40mph here in SoCal and mine is a stg 2. I held with him for about half a gear, after that is was over.
Maybe altitude does make that much difference

If the dealers car was new, when was he shifting? the z06 really wakes up above 5k rpm (more than it ordinarily does with all that torque). Altitude may have made a difference, because you should be close, but you really shouldn't be able to kill him as you did. of course, if he said all he did was chip the car, rather than some other more effective mods on a vette, he may just have been full of sh-t, and a really crappy driver.

The first year of the Z06 was 2006 at which point the 996 turbo wasnt being made any more, at this point you can buy a 996 Turbo and drop 20k and still be at the price of the Z06 so how is it mundane??? The 996 turbo wasnt even built to compete with the C6 Z06 it held it's own very well against the C5Z which is actually in the same generation of competition.
