i was generalizing - gixxer 1000s are pretty equal to R1s...
also my point with 600s relates more to rolls at 60mp, not starting from a dig - as the avg bike rider cant achieve ricky gadson-like 1/4 and 60 ft numbers.
On a side note, most bikes get relatively slower at higher speed b/c of drag/aero...except the busa - such a great aero acheivement. I still cant believe suzuki hasnt updtaed it...no need apparently.
I had one of the loast fast ones (2000) before they were restricted...motor blew up in a 150mph, oil and tankslapper ending wheelie (racing a gsx1000) .
No more riding 4 me!

I find it funny that any near stock Porsche would claim to be faster than the Honda 600RR. Off the line, the bike walks, at 1/4 mile the bike is still ahead. Once you are up over 130mph then the car will pass the bike, but how many races go to 160+? Today's 1000's make the 600's look slow, so Jimbo is wasting HIS gas on racing a Porsche according to ECB's standards.
Of course this is assuming equal quality drivers/riders. That is rarely the case as many bike riders are truly squids.
you didnt beat the bike, you beat the rider.
CBR900RR PERFORMANCE
Measured top speed: 158 mph
0-1/4 mile: 10.73 sec. @ 124.56 mph
0-60 mph: 3.13 sec.
0-100 mph: 6.83 sec.
60-0 mph: 113.8'
Power-to-weight ratio: 1:4.13

I spent four months racing my 600 over the twisties in Jersey as well as highway racing etc (I was an idiot at the time), and I was able to kick peoples asses that were riding new GSXR1000's and Busa's, its all about the rider, because it takes a substantial amount of skill to harness that much power on such a light motorcycle.

People have to understand, rider and from a rolling start can determine the outcome. No doubt that means with a poor rider the bike is faster with a good one, but who can determine their skills in a spur of the moment run? Things are way different on the street, and especially from a 60mph pull no matter how fast their 1/4 mile or 0-60 numbers are..

I consider myself an above average rider...
I love tearing up the twisties, but also throughly enjoy hopping on the highway and doing high speed blasts.
I haven't had a pair big enough to take her above 200 yet, but 193 is knocking on that door... hopefully sometime shortly I'll meet my goal; of going above 200 and not dying.
