2002 996 Turbo vs. Honda CBR600RR....

My friend from mexico wants to race and I was wondering if anyone had a similar situation...

How do you think this would stack up in a race? 0-60, 60-130 ect...

I have Europipe exhaust & chip. I know the skill of the rider has a lot to do with this and i'll put his skill at about an average level.

Any thoughts?

thanks!

I had a 600GSXR and they run high 10's with pro riders. With my heavy *** probably mid 11's at worst. I believe the CBR would be in the same ball park depending on the year of the bike. Newer is usually faster . If your car runs high 11's on the track you will have a good chance. Remember all it takes is a second head start for you to win.

If he's not afraid to launch it, 0-60 he'll take you, from a roll 60-130 it depends on the gear he takes off in to build momentum, first gear on the CBR600RR goes to 73-74mph if my memory serves me right, so if he stays in first gear he'll have the jump and then carry the momentum to take off from you (not by too much though), probably around 120mph-130mph you'll begin to reel him in and pass him.

You can just be smart and suggest he starts off in second gear and you'll get the jump on him.

If he is an average rider I think he will take you. He should be able to run high 10's or at least low 11's. I ran 10.80's on my son's GSXR 600. The 600's are down on tq. compaired to the 1000's but they are easier to launch because of it. Run him and let us know how you did. Good luck.

honda bikes are slow from my experience. I destroyed a cbr900 (although it's an older bike).

A new generation CBR600RR will match a CBR900 if not hammer it out.

My 04 Gixxer 750 Pounds TTs in the quarter,I say tell him you will start at 200 K and see if he bites, bikes make stupid power but at those speeds your car is just getting started.Of course I say do it on a track for some of the Boys scouts!

when i was stage 2, i had a few runs with 600 bikes. for the most part, as long as its a driver that knows what hes doing the bike will pull on you initially (because of the light weight) and keep the gain till around the 100's..where you slowly get closer and closer to him.
overall i had a few runs (depending on the gear we started in) that i pulled on the bike and won. for the most part they pull on you quickly initially but dont keep pulling. If you keep going into triple digits you will beat him with a stage 2.

600s are weak. i would destroy them stock. only r1s and busa's are worth the gas. a bad rider will be slower 0-60 fosho...

you are kidding, right? unless you're driving a 9 second ride of course. 600's trap 120-128 and 750's will trap north of 130.

In my old turbo I whooped every 600, A gsxr 750 and even a 1000 that started in 3rd gear lol... These were all from a 60 mph roll with my car in 3rd sweet spot, new owner of it can attest to this too! Not hard to pull a bike oon highway that's within reason to your turbos power, driving your car to its full potential is key!

haha, i'm thinking if I start at a MPH that makes him start in 2nd i'd have the advantage... hmm... 40mph?

at 60mph he has to be in the higher end of 2nd gear?
