Track Junkie Questions....

Track Junkie Questions....
Ok... so I have tracked the hell out of my car this... love it.
However I have a couple of questions for you guys that do this all the time. Running Michellin Pilot Sport Cups... what is a good HOT pressure for these tires... I'm finding if they go anywhere over 41/42lbs they loose all grip?
Our local track MURDERS left fronts... has anyone rotated the tires from side to side... I can't find anything to suggest it is a bad idea, they are not directional?
Thanks in advance,

I start (cold) 28 front, 30 rear. When hot they end up around 36 front 38 rear which seems to be ideal responsiveness for me. If you adjust, do it by only 1 pound at a time (per run).
A better measurement in terms of consistent performance is inner edge, center, and outter edge tire temps when HOT - right off the track. You want a 1-3 degree variance from one side to the other. If the outter edge is 10+ hotter than the inner edge, add 1/2 to 1 degree of neg. camber and then retest. Once the tire temp is consistent across and pressure when hot is in the 36-38 range, you will get the most consistent grip in all situations around the track.
A pyrometer will measure this for you ... roughly $150 bux.

My cold pressure all start at 32lbs or below. Depending on wheel. Friday's track day I started with the following, track temp 79 degrees.
LF - 29lb
RF - 30lb
LR - 30lb
RR - 31lb
Ending temps were...
LF - 43lbs
RF - 41lbs
LR - 42lbs
RR - 40lbs
How do you guys only raise the temp 4 to 8 degrees????
I have a pyrometer, consistant temps across the tire. Just chasing the right cold pressure... I realize it is dependant on temp outside etc...
Thanks

I rotated my Hoosiers side to side because Brainerd Raceway also
murders the left side tires (especially left front). No Problemo, but
do not know about the Mich's. Your temps jumb too much! ??

Thanks in advance,
Yes, I rotated tires from side to side ones during a DE weekend.

I ended up around 36f 38r and those turned out some GREAT feeling lap times...that being said, **** the PSCs and move to Hoosier R6s...they are WORLDS better with grip, run at 40psi hot and stick WELL after the PSCs lose it...
just a suggestion...
just a suggestion...

I not only rotated but flipped my tires (hoosiers) because of the neg camber I was running and the fact that I ran at Roebling Road and it ATE the outside of one of my tires so I had to to get any more life out of them. It took two heat cycles for the grip to come back, but it did.
