I have had the the pleasure of driving a few K24/18gs as well as the one of a kind k24/20g.
the upgrade is I believe $1200 a pair. Then another $400 for installed and calibrated 12 psi WG springs. U can source out ur own 5 bar FPR.... get a greddy boost controller for $300 online.... Teh ecu I believe is $2975 onetime with option to upgrade and or retune for I believe $365. There is no need for program swithing cable nor a program what other tuners( not all) charge extra for because this is all in one... So meanwhile the initial ECU fee maybe 500 to 700 bucks more but in reality its the saem after all said and done. You dont buy cables nor "Race" programs for an extra fee... in this case you have a boost controller that controls your HP output. Teh ecu is written for this device and and you do NOT have the dreaded 1.3 bar limp mode like other tuners do. I have seen guys put on aftermarket WG springs to only kick the car into limp mode time after time. Those Ecus are not coded for the 1.3 bar limp bypass.
Yoy asked for the best tuner... I tell you there is no "best/easiest" as you called it...
Hope this helps....

Markski, can you comment on the lag difference between stock k24's and k24/18's? I already have a big-turbo 951 that is almost undrivable on the street (track car), don't need two. Guess I'm leaning more towards k16/24's but don't want to upgrade twice.

maybe even less.... I paid only 1300 for my turbos... I was relaly fortunate as someone was incredibly generous with me! the electronics yu can get really creative with and search online for... basically those prices is what ANYONE can get... If you spend some time as I did... yu can really find some awesome deals!!! but even at 12-13K.... ITS out of this world!!!

No difference. The K24 has such a large turbine wheel that there is enough shaft torque to spin the larger compressor without any additional lag. If anything the boost response get better.

Something else to consider is that the stock exhaust has 10+ PSI of back pressure. With aftermarket options you can get it down to less than 2 PSI. It is the difference between exhaust pressure in front of the turbo (inlet pressure) and after the turbo that causes that turbo to spin. If you decrease exhaust backpressure after the turbo you increase the difference between inlet pressure and the turbo spools up quicker.

IMHO if you are going to upgrade your exhaust don't waste your time on a K16 based turbo. The protomotive K24/18g's with proper exhaust are very responsive. They are nothing like old school 930's.

Mark, awesome and very helpful as always. I am thinking of going to the K24/18's. I run straight pipes. do I "need' to change my intake or headers?
The hybid turbo is ok with the stock internals?? What hp with above set up?

thanks

tom
