Nothing wrong with a set of k-24s and a flash, assuming you have a decent exhaust to help shorten the spoolup time.
You will be sitting at 550 hp at the crank for minimal cost
k-24s $2,500 if you shop around
Programming $1,600 from FVD, about $3,000 for GIAC

Please look at Kevin's Stage IIIUMW release data or call him. He has a new K16 unit that pushes air like a k24 but is fast to spool up.....a new turbo on the market. I am of the opinion that Kevin, as the turbo maker himself and not just a seller of turbos, has the product of choice. I would talk to him about turbos and review your wants and needs..... I gain nothing from this post. I am just a satisfied customer. I am not posting the link to his announced product because I don't want to be banned....but you probably should find this data before spending any money on x, y, z....get your full data in hand.
Most on the board may not know there is another turbo now out there, I don't even know what to call it. It is a k16 but with a custom casing, etc.
If Kevin is here, please pipe in. I don't want to say the wrong thing, etc.

The difference of CFM produced by K24 vs k16 at same boost pressures is significant. I would highly recommend pairing stiffer wastegate springs and ECU tune.

It comes down to a few things...
K24s with a flash( good)
K24s with upgraded springs and a flash( better)
K24s with 18g compressors(apprx. $1000 extra) with flash( even better)
K24s with 18g compressor with upgraded Wgs plus flash(best)
One advantage to going k24/18gs is that you can always upgrade to a
700 hp package without upgrading turbos once the k24/18gs are installed.
I think we all are speed junkies and I personally have changed turbos 3 times.. so saving yourself 4 to 6 K on a set of turbos would be nice.
I personally had k24s with and without upgraded springs...
There are other tuners that offer different turbo packages.
just my opinion...

I just got my car back yesterday from Protosport. I did the k24/18g 700 package and thats exactly what I did. About 9 months ago I did the 600 package and now upgraded to the 700 and you don't feel it in the wallet as bad. But you definitely feel it on your ***.

be aware though that some have 1 bar springs and they tend to be a little too strong... thus harder to control especially when it gets cold.
I suggest a 12 psi spring so ur minimum boost will be 12 psi...
The real problem in buying just the springs is that it is somewhat difficult to set them up so they work correctly.. especially when guys are running ECUs that have the 1.3 bar safety shut down mode... ( most do). What happens is that when the Temps. drop a little then the car boost more and if ur setting is set too close to 1.3 bars then the car goes intyo limp mode. I know from experience. Its tricky but can be done correctly.
SOme, like protomotive, use a EBC and control the boost via the cockpit - nice

An EBC w/ lo & hi settings Though 100+ octane fuel is > $7/gallon around here and our cars are thirsty suckers.
I'll write more about my experience w/ upgrades soon but you can never have enough HP for giggles. In reality, on the street and track stock is more than enough true performance...
