I talked with Mike at Evoms, he states not to worry, its just having extra 200hp under the foot. But i feel it should still be consistant ! I have no confidence around turns with throttle because it can surge power at any moment. plus, i the pedal is so sensitive, they should have also worked on spreading the power throughout the range of the pedal. Do you think protomotive can supply a program for this gt640 setup thats better ? i mean, the turbos are nice and high quality, plus all the plumbing in and out is upgraded, would be sad to get rid of it all over programming...

Gt700

I had both and I'm on my second GT700 setup. This is definetly smoother in terms of power delivery and recommended. I encountered occasional sputtering at higher boost levels with the previous setup (went through the various upgrades from Stage4 to GT700) caused by fuel delivery issues. Still have the original MAF without issues (also have Vflow intake). Next step, is to strengthen internals plus some other tweeks.

taizen is infamous around these parts
If you have a larger than stock TB, you will notice more sensitivity in the pedal. So you get quicker response, but at the cost of modulation control. And if your turbos/setup has a narrow but sharp powerband, it will make things worse.

Keep your GIAC programming with EVOMS set-up.
Drive another GT700, there has to be some around to try and
see if they have the same feel as described or not.
Good Luck,

Gt700

Also, if you combine the GT700 w/ a lwfw, you may get an occasional engine cutout at stops when coming from upper gears. Seems the s/w sometimes has issues with the interia loss and drops below idle. Check with your shop if you encounter.

i got a new program today from Sharkwerks (mine may have been old) and, after driving 50 miles, it seems to be smoother. it still bucks but nowhere near what it did. however, i will drive it a lot more over the next few days to see if it has truly improved.

Talked with Todd at Proto. Wow, this guy knows every detail about turbos and Porsche's and mafs curves and boost ! Also, i have gotten a couple PM's with people who told me some interesting things about their Evo GTs. Anyone ever try to get a refund from evoms ? When you call evoms and get placed on hold, their on hold dialog preaches to you how stable, linear their packages are. But obviously we all drive differently and have different expectations. I track the car and for me a predictable pedal means alot, i suppose 1/4 mile cars are mainly on or off but road course track events benefit throttling the corners. I just miss my predictable throttle and at this point wouldn't mind either selling my gt640 setup for a proto setup, stock k16 setup or a refund. I would hate to start over and throw thousands away. Oh well, its interesting to read things and to experience it for oneself.

Welcome to the club, but maybe EVOMS will listen to all of this and make changes? I can only hope but if you do decide to go to Protomotive I think you will like the service. If you are serious you need to speak to Marty, since he likes to track his car. He has the 24/18 setup I believe.
Good luck
Robert

My pedal modulation was perfectly fine.

I now have (3) full track days under my belt.
(2) at Low boost (Road America), and
(1) at High boost (Brainerd), see my post.
Both events I drove there and drove home, this tells you something I believe.
(combined 1000 miles of travel and 400 track miles !!)
I did not TOUCH my car at either event (other than broken drop links).
Pour race gas in, lower tire pressure, mash the throttle, apply the brakes.
Repeat as necessary.

Marty, you ran an official 1:51 @ BIR? Was this a PCA event? With all that power, I thought you would be in the 40's for sure.
