? about a dealer in Irvine California

I have located a car that I am interested in that is in Irvine California. I am curious if anyone has any dealings good or bad w/ Motorcars Direct. What is their reputation?

Thanks,

Phil

I dealt with them

I bought a 2001 TT 996 Turbo off of them and am very happy with them. They are a top notch dealership. They also have there own service center a few blocks away on Bake street. When dealing price with them make sure you do your homework and have a good price that you can live with. Thats for any dealership, not just them. Talk to Chris Mason, he is the man! Tell him Phil Teves recommended him. If you get car make sure you get 2 keys with the deal, if they have one only make them get a copy for you from the Porsche dealer. And make sure you get the users manual, I didn't get it. Cheers!

I always though that a 'dealer' is the retail representative for a car manufacturer.

THis sounds like a used car lot with a roof and service bays....

They only deal with high end vehicles, and they know how to get you a great deal. Plus great service after the sale, which I did use, and they accomadated me very well with a free rental jag.

Check there website out.

Well for whatever reason I was unable to access their website last night, hence the question. I was unsure if they were a dealer for Porsche or someother automaker and had a Porsche on their lot.
What I am interested in is whether or not they have a good reputation and don't misrepresent their vehicles for sale. I have found a place or 2 in Tx that are known for representing cars that are nowhere close to how they are advertised. I appreciate the other responses. I will just wait until they "Motorcars Direct" respond to my questions.

I was just being a bit argumentative.... Here's my issue: As consumers, we've been conditioned to think of car buying with three prices.... Trade In, Private Party, and Dealer Retail.

The issue is the pricing for 'dealer retail' is supposed to include significant advantages to the consumer: a discriminating dealer who only buys the best used cars, a manufacturer to stand behind them, in-depth knowledge in their service staff to recondition the vehicle, etc, etc. Indeed, their prices should include paying for a CPO!

What you get with non-porsche "dealers" are used car salesmen buying metal from the cheapest source, fixing what they must and marketing it as a pristine example of the finest used specimen their buyers could locate. Indeed, where do you think trade-ins that fail to meet a porsche dealers' criteria end up?

Having said all that, there is nothing wrong with used car lots or private party sales- just do your homework and understand the process.

Sorry for being preachy...and sorry for being a bit OT.
