What would you suggest?? MB? The 645ci runs circles around even the AMG version, outhandling it in every test. The 645ci also out accelerates the standard 500, and I do not like MB numb steering, poor handling or slush box. The Z8 handles much better and is just a tick off the AMG. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks buddy.

Most definately the Z8. I am not a fan of the new 6 either, but even if I was I would go for the Z8 as it is a collector's item and has more performance. The Z8 will be one of those rare cars in history in about 30 years.

Question

I usually go with whichever is the best for resale.

I thought about buying a Z8 Alprina when the local dealership had one. After looking on eBay , I saw that there wasn't lots of interest in them.

Would you be keeping it a long time?

I guess it's too early to tell how well the 645 will sell. The 645 drives great. I haven't driven the Z8.

I think the Z8 is better looking. One of the BMW salesman said that he'd rather have a Z4!

I would be proud to drive either one!

Lou, If you planned on keeping the car, I would highly recommend the E55. Great grocery car and tt for really pushing it. The Z8 isn't as nice as the E55 and can't perform like the tt. So, depends on what you are looking for. My tt, E55 combo works real well for me.

I loved my Z8. I only sold it because I needed more seats. I had my Z07 Vette and my Z8. With three daughters I just needed to let one go. The Z8 was expendable so I sold it and got the M5.

Driving the Z8 was a blast. It has a classic old school rodaster look but still had all the comfort and technology of a modern vehicle. I can not count the times I was approached by strangers who just wanted to sit in it and ask questions. For awhile I had the only one on the island of Oahu.

It got sold to a Ferrari collector who told me he liked the Z8 better than anything he had ever driven.

The car has classic and beautiful lines and will never look dated.

Here's a pic

agree. I think the 645cic will tank after the initial buzz of a "full size" cab has died down. the z8 is a car that i have driven in and has a very solid feel, i remember when it came out : James Bond, oo7, etc... unfortunately, I think these cars have limited appeal, but in the end I always go with what I LIKE instead of following the masses.

I'm not sure what your hoping to get out of the car as you already have a new 6. If you need a usable back seat then it would still be the 6. if it doesn't matter why not get a turbo cab?

Whatever you decide, please let us know. I am looking to replace my 540i and the cab is what I want so a 645 cic may be the way to be. BTW, do you like the interior? I've seen some pics and thought it a bit plain. What say you?

Best of luck,

Geoff

buy a Z8 and put Alpina Wheels on it. Also they produced as many z8's in product run as they build 6 series last month. 6;s are going to be everywhere

The Z8 is far more a drivers car. I think it is a good buy at what they are selling for now. I thought the 6 was nice but it did not drive like I thought it would.

I bought the new CLK 55 convertable for my wife. It's a great car - nice acceleration and exhaust note. I've never really tested it out on the curves though, but it's a big improvement over the previous model. The shift buttons behind the steering wheel are a nice feature. The only thing the car needs is better wheels.
