BOOST Hose ISSUES!!!!

I was wondering if anyone one on this forums is having the same trouble I am currently having. My Evoms boost hose on the left side that is connected from the turbo to the intercooler keeps on popping off. I have roughly 3-4 k on this GT640 kit and can't seem to understand what is wrong.

It is quite annoying to pull off to the side of the free way to fiddle around with the hose to click back in. Is there a fix to this.

Yes, I have never had the problem but in just my few short weeks of reading this site I have seen many threads about hoses popping off. I think the answer is to replace the stock hoses, and if that doesn't work you might have to replace the intercoolers as well.

What I don't understand is why do these tuners sell kits that cause hoses to pop off and other failures without providing replacement parts for those crappy OEM pieces that they know are going to fail. It should all be part of the package.

A simple fix to this is just to take a small screwdriver and pry up on the triangle piece that sticks out at the hose end. This helps the clip to hold the hose in more securely. No need to waste money on hoses IMO. I kept blowing them off till I did this.

I just had this problem at the track and the stock intercooler pipe was broken at the end. It is black plastic, my mechanic screwed the hose into the metal part of the pipe and it held through 100 minutes of track time.

Nothing exotic.......simple screw clamps......not sure what torque should be used to snug em up.

I am not sure what year TT you have but I have heard there is a "length" problem with putting the Aftermarket Boost hoses on a 2001 TT. he way to overcome it is to put better clamps on than the ones supplied - also you can try T-Clamps.

4G64T, my TT is a 2001. I don't know if length is the real issue. Ive had the hose kit on for some time now with out any trouble. Its very frustrating to see the c-shape clip is still fastened on the intercooler with the hose off to the side.

Would you care to explain what you mean by better clamps. I was not aware that there were better clips/clamps available. Also ive never heard of a T-clamp before.

fwiw, there are known issues with the connections with the ic hoses. there have been some subtle changes with ic hose ends and the connections to address this issue.

I spent a lot of time and effort to get these Hoses correct for Samco, Here is the issue!

The connections at the Y pipe are ever so slightly tighter than that of the Intercooler, this is why a lot of hoses are popping off at Intercooler side. I pointed this problem out with Samco and they have actually machined a slightly wider connection for the Intercooler compaired to the Y pipe.

Now I don't know what all the others have done, but the way around the issue is to try your connection in the intercooler without the rubber seal on and see if you have any play in there, you might want to pop the clip in and have a very close inspection to see how close it is to popping past the lug (I call it lug, the 2 little pieces that petrude from the connection). Now what I done was pop down to my local fab guy and got him to pop an extra little alloy weld onto the lugs of the connections, I then taken a file and shaped it, you want to achieve slightly wider lug so that it is pretty much impossible to pop past the clip. (not advised for stock hoses)

There ya go, booyaa, hopefully everyones problems solved

Stevo,

I hope it is as simple as you have stated. Ill try to get a new rubber seal and see if thatll do it. If that doesn't work than Im goin to start kickin my car.
