996 Turbo Racers - Ready to Get REAL Brakes on YOUR Car?

Alright 996 Turbo guys listen up... For you 6speeders buried in the snow, track season is upon us and it is time to get serious this year with improved braking. You are only as fast as you can stop. The further you dive into turns, the faster you come out. The only brake choice should be Brembo, and that is evident by the numerous professional racing teams that use Brembo and pay for their Brembo brake products.

Vivid Racing is one of the largest Brembo brake dealers in the USA, proven fact. We stock all Porsche applications for same day shipping in all the available options. So what is available for the Porsche 996 Turbo and why should you run a Brembo Brake Kit?

All Brembo big brake kits include street pads, steel braided brake lines, 2 piece floating rotors with patented McLaren hardware, calipers, brackets, and ONLY at Vivid Racing, Brembo brake fluid. Now for you guys that are going to do some track racing, get rid of those street pads and Vivid Racing can substitute them for track pads from Porterfield, Ferodo, or Pagid on the 4 and 6piston calipers. The same engineering that goes into the race team brakes and the OEM brakes found on the Porsche can be equated to what is on these GT kits. The patented McLaren hardware is only used on Brembo kits and this allows the rotor to have a true center line for better pad wear, improved heat dissipation, and overall longer rotor life. The increased veined rotors also help tremendously reduce brake fade. Each 355mm rotor saves about 7lbs of rotational weight per corner on the Porsche Turbo. Other companies try to replicate the hardware with a nut and bolt. This does have the weight reduction of a 2pc rotor, but because it is not a "true floating" design, this causes the aluminum brake hat to become a consumable item. Brembo rotors last about 3 times longer then OEM and 2 times longer then its competitors. Many PCCB owners will switch to the Brembo setup for further improved braking and longer rotor life.

When engineering Brembo's calipers, they take into account the use of the OEM rear brakes and design the piston bore to be specific for that cars braking bias, weight, and overall needs. For the Porsche Turbo, the front 6piston kit is a monoblock design to improve rigidity over the stock caliper for a more responsive pedal feel. The kit is available in a 355mm or 380mm rotor. The caliper weighs only 1lb more then the stock 4piston design. This larger 6piston caliper however does not fit OEM Turbo Twist wheels. It does fit some 18 inch wheels such as the Volk TE37, CCW, and HRE Competition. The 380mm kit requires 19 inch wheels with such a massive rotor. It is not required to get the rear kit, but will improve braking performance overall.

All Brembo kits are available in red, silver, black, or yellow calipers. We can do custom colors at $400 per axle. Rotors are available in your choice of drilled or slotted. We recommend slotted for the track guys.

Now for those HARDCORE Track Guys, you need the custom spec GTR Racing Brake Kit.

With all the same advantages of the GT kit, the GTR kit is custom built to your needs and specifications. You get the equivalent of a full race team brake kit without the maintenance needed. he nickle plating is inspired by what F1 race teams use and the calipers are 10% lighter then the current Monobloc calipers on the market. They are much stiffer, provide better pedal modulation. The NEW line of GT-R calipers were designed to provide every level of performance as these top level race calipers, but with superior plating for aesthetic longevity and corrosion resistance’s, and incorporate a twin seal design that eliminates the need for the additional maintenance of rebuilding. A simple set of caliper temp stickers, (also available through Vivid Racing) is all you need to ensure you are running within optimal operating temperatures during the most aggressive track outings. Thus Brembo has released a GT-R kit that is street friendly and ready for the serious racer.

For those that just cannot drop this kind of coin but want better braking, try out Brembo's new 2 piece floating rotor replacements for the 4piston 330mm OEM caliper or if you are using the 6piston GT3 caliper, get the 350mm slotted rotor. Better pad wear, 3lbs of rotational weight savings per corner, and backing of the Brembo name. With the McLaren hardware setup, the rotor and hardware is the only consumable item on the disks. So when, if you ever do, need to replacement the rotors, you will retain the billet aluminum hat keeping replacement costs extremely low. Because of the McLaren hardware design, these rotors are GUARANTEED to last 2 times longer then the competition and much longer then the stock units. We suggest that an average track driver would probably see a good 1 year of use out of these rotors while a street car would probably see about 20-30K miles.

This is a great modification for those wanting to keep costs low but greatly improve the braking of their street or track cars. We recommend using Pagid or OEM pads with this rotor and for best performance, run steel braided brake lines with synthetic brake fluid.
