Guard Transmission's Spring Sale on 2 piece mainshafts
Hello,
Spring is here and it's time to do your race builds on your gearbox. So, we've decided to offer up some of our 2 piece motorsports mainshafts at a discount so that you've got something truly bulletproof in your box when you rebuild it. We rate these mainshafts 30% stronger than the factory mainshaft sets.
It uses our proprietary 2 piece design. It's this design and the ability to manufacture the unit out of two very different metals that is key to the greater strength of this product. The quill, the section that mates to the clutch disc, is made out of 300M steel. This is the same steel used in high end axles and torsion bars. It's got a "spring rate" to it. What this means is when you release the clutch and all the force of your engine is transferred to the gearbox, it gives and absorbs some of the shock. It protects the gearstack itself from taking all that shock load.
Then the other half of the shaft is made out of 9310 vacuum processed gear steel. It gives you a super strong and stable platform to assemble the gearstack on. There's no need to compromise in either material or the heat treatment in an attempt to perform two functions. The parts leave our factory ready to install with no further treatments or modifications to make them stronger.
Guard Transmission has been using this design for more than ten years. It's such a good design, that a couple of years ago Porsche adopted it for use in their GT3R and RSR sequential gearboxes. Professional racers were removing the factory 1 piece mainshafts and replacing them with ours. Porsche Motorsports figured if you can't beat them, join them.
Normally these mainshafts, with integral 1st gearset sell for $2500. For the month of April we're going to offer them for 20% off, at $2000. That's below our usual dealer price. On some of these ratios, we've only got one or two units on the shelf, so it will be first come first served with no rainchecks. The ratios we have in stock are as follows:
3.000 12:36
2.692 13:35
2.333 15:35
2.250 16:36
Those last two are super tall. I wouldn't want to drive them on the street and consider them truly track only ratios. A new second gear is required for use with these, which we can offer you as well. Normally the 2nd gears are $950, but when purchased with the mainshaft, we'll include them at $800. These are all 38mm parts and work with the standard 1/2 operating sleeve in the turbo and GT2 gearboxes, as well as the street GT3.
If you have any questions or would like me to run you a gearchart for your specific application, just let me know. Thanks for your interest.
Regards,
Matt
