We have been very busy over the past few weeks developing an exciting new intake plenum for the 996TT. It features twin 70mm tubes to supply fresh air to the turbos and is designed to work in conjuction with the 70mm turbo inlet ducts, which we supply with the kit. For those that already have the 70mm ducts in place, this piece is a great addition and the plenum can be purchased separately. OEM mounting points and service areas are retained to insure a straight forward and easy installation. The SpeedTech intake plenum eliminates all restrictions inherent with the OEM design and provides a clear, uniform 70mm path for the intake air to travel to the turbos. Below are some pictures of our new plenum in both natural finish and silver powder coat. It can be powder coated any color for a small additional charge.

Although it can be installed at any time without removing the engine, the perfect opportunity to add this intake is when you are doing a clutch job, as the area is wide open.

Not only is this plenum lighter than OEM, it allows you to hear the air rushing through the plenum on it's way to the turbos. If you have upgraded turbos and exhaust, this is a next upgrade that you should seriously consider...

Additionally, the lower plastic pipe is 1/4" thick and virtually indestructable. When installed, these pipes are sandwiched between the motor and the firewall and are exposed to a lot of vibration and rubbing. They are also open to the underside of the car. A breach of this pipe at any point, whether from rubbing behind the motor or road debris from underneath the car will result in dust, sand and/or stone being sucked in to your turbos and motor. Since these areas are seldom checked, if ever, a failure will most likely result in unknowingly sucking debris into your motor for an extended peiod of time or until it causes a catastrophic failure. We firmly believe that this is not an area to take a chance with less durable materials such as some of the "hose" designs" or other "thin walled material" which are susceptible to wear, puncture or both. Our piping is considerably thicker than the OEM plastic pipe it replaces, which makes this a significant upgrade in quality, durability and performance.

 

Another kit fabbed this week and now on it's way to a new home in The UK! Great choice by the owner for superior fresh air intake flow to feed his new A28's and long term durability/reliability. I love this product!
