Kenwood Double DIN Advice (MOST Bus Sucks)
I'd like to get the Kenwood 8019, which has 50Wx4. Since I have an '03 Cab w/Bose and the fiber optic MOST bus, I can't hook the Kenwood up to the stock amp. So would I be able to bypass the stock amp and wire the Kenwood directly to the speakers? Is 50W enough for the stock speakers? Why shouldn't I do this?

Just check the impedance of the stock system...if its 4, or even 2 ohms, you shluld be fine in using the head unit to power the speakers....you may need more than 50x4 for REAL enjoyment of the system.....

Call Rick at Reus Audio....he was telling me once that he custom made (or had one made) a part to connect an aftermarket system to the MOST bus....if you are OK with the sound of your system, then you can connect the Kenwood 8019 to the MOST Bose Amp and keep your speakers....Worth a phone call.

Good lead. I'll definitely give him a call and see if he has anything for me. The problem is, I tend to slide down a hill when it comes to mods. All I wanted was a head unit, but now I'm tempted to get a 5 channel amp, and if I get an amp, might as well get speakers. If I get speakers, might as well get a sub. Next thing you know, I'm in it for $3000.

I'm a 1 week 04 996 Cab owner (yeah!) ... so while scouring thru these forums I keep coming across this scary monster called MOST. I think I get it but everytime I say that I get re-confused .. so please help me here ...
I assume my system has Bose (used car, how would I tell? Does that matter?). I also assume all of the 04 996's have the MOST system.
1) Where can I find a good description of what MOST is for this model car?
2) What components does MOST link together?
3) I had originally planned to replace the factory amp with an aftermarket one, and add 1 (or 2) 8" subs behind front seats (vertically under rear seats facing front). I assume I can do this with the MOST system. If not, do I also need to replace the factory/Bose speakers to work with an aftermarket Amp?
4) Once I have the new Amp in (and any new speakers required), I assume replacing the head unit is easy as MOST isn't really in "use" anymore?
I apologize for the "virgin-ness" of these questions, but I just can't seem to locate this info so far ...
Thanks!
