I spent some time researching this. There have been a couple of cases where (with a great deal of work) they have been fitted.
If you want the look go for the MA Shaw version. It stays in the up position and looks good.
Deputy dog was selling his a while back, if you look up his postings you'll find pics of it on his cab.

Cheers,
Stan

This is the one I bought from DD. I love it. It's a replica and I, like you wanted one that went up and down. However, I have loved the one I have and the compliments are never ending. Also, expect a few criticisms because some Porsche owners hate this spoiler.

Hope this helps.

I would love to see a DIY post on this if you make it work. Too me, this is the most sexy spoiler on a NB you can get. Partly because it's on a NB and meant for a TT. Not enough for a Turbo but fantastic for a NB. But, that's just me. Many would a disagree.

You can move the air pump to a different location. It's not impossible.

If memory serves me correctly there are pictures of a nb 996 with a TT tail over at renntech.org. I believe there is a picture with the lid open so you might be able to see what was moved.
Good luck.
