Smile Grinding out orange in headlights? Advice please?

Hello,

I had read a thread awhile back that I cannot seem to relocate. If anyone has info or advice, I'd truly appreciate your help!

I have replaced my orange corner pieces on the 996, and now I want to remove the orange out of the main headlight housing. I'm not ready to purchase the litronics yet, otherwise, I'd just do that as it's much easier!

I've also tried the tint film, but it didn't work out too well. I've also thought about painting the inside, as well.

I've heard that you can somehow manually remove the orange by grinding it out? Has anyone heard of this or tried it? What do you think?

Thanks much in advance guys!

i don't think i can break out the orange inside the housing, as i believe on my car that the entire orange piece is orange on the outside as well? sorry the picture doesn't show it very well, but it's the best one i have of the headlights at the moment. =)

hi redridge,

thank you! great thread! now i have ideas for the taillights as well! hahaha! it's so infectious being here! =P

yes, you're right. i think that there are two kinds of headlights. ones that you're able to remove the orange by grinding it out, and ones like mine that you can't as the entire inside/outside is orange. =( i guess i'll look into painting them. what do you think of that look? or having them smoke tinted?

thanks again for your help! you're great!

You can get NON Litronic without the orange....so look on ebay....you can usually find them fairly cheap....That article is for those kinds of lights because the Litronics or Non Litronic with the clear has a SLIGHT orange reflector...

tinting might be an option, though I wouldnt tint the main headlamp...Im not sure of your local laws regarding tinting... I would put the orange corners back and be happy... keep an eye out for clear halogens, they are way cheaper than litronics.

I rather put the orange corner back in... thats the character of that model year... One day, your the only 996 with the orange marker, while everyone will be clear but I would save and get the real stuff
