75k Service on the WHIP

So I went dropped my car off today cause it has 71k and I was having some issues. Here is the low down;
1. Exhaust rattles on a cold start. I checked around and realized a lot of P's have this problem, most people replace the pipes or re-enforce.
2. Had some leakage I dunno where the heak that was coming from but it was orange.
3. When I drove around if I went over a bump, pot hole, or rail road tracks and braked while my car was bouncing around my brakes would like FAIL or not brake properly.

I always take my car to a private Porsche mechanic and he said I need;
1. To re-enforce my pipes.
2. Waterpump to stop the leak.
3. Rear brakes and rotars (had 15% left.)
4. Spark Plugs.
5. Oil change.
6. Oil filter.

Bottem line is $1,700.00. He is charging roughly about $700 for labor. Does this sound right to you guys? Anything else I should look into or ask???

I have a 2001 Carrera

Thanks guys.

Are you sure the rattle not coming from the exhaust cans or the cats?

I don't see $1000 for parts. Do a online search for price on waterpump, rotors, brake pads. Spark plug is $7 a pop. I had a Goodyear store did mine for $96 parts & labor. GL!!

My 60k was $1,300 which included parts and labor. He had to replace a leaking heater valve that was dripping anti-freeze. He also spent some time chasing down a buzzing noise I was getting when I went past 105 mph. This seems fair to me, considering he replaces your rotors and brake pads with OEM or better.

alotta coin...

$1,700 sounds like a lot of moolah for the amount of work you're having done. Some people say "you gotta pay to play", but don't hesitate to call around. The $$$ is better in your pocket. Some mechanics feel that since you own p-car they're entitled to charge you whatever they think you'll pay. I say that's a load of crap.

Question the estimate and let him know you're on top of your game... He's not the only game in SoCal, that's for sure....

Hehe. Did the "buzzing" turn out to the be the speed chime warning ?

Seems a tad high, a new waterpump from Suncoast is $350 and rotors are $400.

I know the labor was high but my parts alone were $598 with PCA discount. Rotors were $177 each, not sure how you got that deal.

At first I thought that it could be the speed chime, but I turned it off. Thought maybe it was something getting pushed back into the cooling fans, but nothing there either.

Turned out to be the front windshield had been replaced by the previous owner and it was not the correct windshield for my model, plus it was not installed properly. Their was a small gap at the bottom of the windshield below the windshield wipers that would allow air to start rushing through it when I was going +100 mph. It never leaked any water, but there was a lot of air pushing against the front windshield when going that fast.
They installed a new windshield for $600.
Now I have taken it up to 120+ mph without any buzzing at all.

Brakes

I also notice that when I go over a bump or hit something in the road and hit the brakes my brake pedal nearly goes to the floor...it is consistent. My mechanic told me my pads look good...any thoughts?
