30K Maintenance
6Speed,
New member - just picked up a 2003 C4S and was wondering what the 30K service entailed. Also, any recommendations for shops and pricing for this service in the Los Angeles area.
Thanks for the advice.

30k service consist of oil & oil filter change, air filter change, cabin filter change, inspection of suspension, engine oil, coolant, brake, tranny for leaks. Inspect belts for wear and chaff, tires pressure. Brake fluid probably needs to be flushed (every 2-3 yrs). Coolant is lifetime per Porsche.
At 60k, you'll want to replace the serpentine belt in addition to the items above.

Just purchased the vehicle and it's my first Porsche, so not all that confident in working on it before I learn more about them.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume it will be much harder to work on myself than my old E46 M3.

Doubt it is any harder. Hardest part about the 30k is raising the rear end up in the air and that is a piece of cake. Seriously, if you have ever changed oil on any car you can do it. And save yourself a few hundred $$$ in the process

Air filter, pollen filter, oil and filter change, piece of cake. All the directions are available online for free as DIY, check www.rennlist.com or www.renntech.org. I had never owned a porsche before (honda, jeep, volvo, toyota, VW in past) and I did the work about 4 months into ownership. Don't be afraid. I'm sure the BMW is the same or harder to work on. It's a car, not a spaceship.
