Is there anybody that makes a "whale tail" wing for the 996?

Looking for something very similar to the 87 turbo cars. something flat, with a grill on the top. can't seem to find anything that matches that. i thought that was a classic porsche wing but nobody makes anything even close except for techart, and that one is a little big for my wife's taste. going to see a techart mounted in person this morning. i'd love to find something like the 87 turbo, black grill on top and all.

I love the techart piece. Two probs though. Saw it at the dealer today mounted on brand new car. Manager opened the rear decklid and showed me how the wing rubbed against the body when opened fully. Other thing was that there is no weather stripping on the front of the spoiler and it creates a horrible whistling noise at speed. He was really dissapointed with it and is removing the wing as soon as possible. It looks awesome in person. Beautiful piece. Just some fitment issues that could probably be solved with creative use of weather stripping. Shouldn't have to monkey with a 3K dollar spoiler though.

Strosek isn't bad, but it's got no grill at all on top. Looks too plain. Don't know why I'm hooked at the grill, but I have to have it.

Kevin's wing is from Mashaw. It's the ERS. Great looking wing. I was looking for something flatter though, and not to sound like a broken record, and with a grill on top

Looking like techart is my only option. I hate having to monkey with aftermarket stuff to get it to fit though. Especially with what they're charging for this piece. Three time more expensive than anything else I've seen out there.

Wish there was a way to mount an older tail on my car.

nope, nobody makes one that I can find. i'm surprised too, because they copy everything else techart makes.

RedLineRobert has the TechArt wing and he has not mentioned any opening issues or noises (nor did I see it touch when open, close yes, touch no). This may be one of those items that needs to be installed "properly" to work. Even a brand new stock lid must be adjusted to close and open correctly. However, since you do not want to spend that much it is not an issue.

I also think that if you find a cheaper "knock-off" you will be spending a considerable amount of time and money (far beyond what a premium part would take) to make it fit properly.

Best of luck in the search and please keep us all posted on what you find
