I'll agree w/Random.
I see the 2-piece LM more on BMW and other.....where they seem to work.
Of course they look like their BBS 'Race' brothers......but there you know they are proven utility......strong/light/mag center.

If it's for street use, I would definately go with the LM's. They are 2-piece wheels (i.e. no headaches with leaking wheels etc.) and better yet, they're DOT approved for road use, which the BBS racing wheels are not.

If you end up getting the racing wheels, do not go with the magnesium ones. The E88 style aluminums are as light (or even ligther) and the won't crack like the magnesiums do. I'm actually replacing my front mag centers with the newer aluminum ones due to cracking.

The racing wheels are light but there is a downside to that, they are much more vulnerable than the LM's. So if and when you hit potholes, they tend to bend easily. The good part is that they are 3-piece so you can replace a bent wheel halve. But then there's the problem with leaking wheels etc.

I would save the headache and go with the LM's. If you want looks and are ready to sacrifise a tiny bit of your performance (not like you'd really need all of it on the street anyway), go with 19s. They look just SO much better on the 996.

For comparison, here is my car with 19" AutoArts and 18" BBS racing wheels:

18" BBS RACING

19" AUTOART

I'd second what Juha stated.

I'm opting to go to Champion 19's in the next week as the yellow 996 is soley street driven, however what's great is that the wheels that I've opted for are a good 8lbs each less than my current 18's.

I'd stick with 18"s, the 19"s affect ride and performance on the 996...

Some amazing pics there, really like the black on black and other color coded but those BBS photo-shopped on look amazing, slightly lower ride height though, would be 40mm lowered?
