Congrats and welcome to the 6. I've put around 12,000 miles on mine so far and no problems what so ever. Still loving it. #159 Cheers

This is one of the best 911's ever..and in my view the best 996 ever for the street.....gorgeous with a lot of bite! If James Bond had been a German secret agent, this would have been his car....

Congratulations Steve, sounds like a great car and a great find. Welcome to 6 speed.

I would keep it mostly stock except for some minor mods like a shifter and exhaust. Who knows it could be a collectors car someday. The car already has a X51 motor, LDS, sport suspenison and so many other desirable options. Keep it stock, the resale value will be more. Or mod the hell out of it, it will make my car worth more.

I think the previous owner did a short shifter, unless in stock form the shifter has as small throws as this one does - the salesman knows the previous owner, and I wasn't paying much attention at the time but he mentioned short shifter.
I agree on the mods - I don't really have any plans other than a kit I saw in the link above for some aluminum pedals/dead pedal.
One question I had - someone told me that the 2004 with the X51 package is the same engine as the stock 997 - therefore less IMS issues. Is this true?
Regards,
Steve
