Paint polishing advice needed

Has anyone tried the Griot's orbital polishing machine and polishing products? I see their adds in Porsche Panorama and was wondering if their polishing machine does a good job removing paint swirls in black paint.

Hey Yolev,
There is a wonderful site called “autopia.org” that you should try. NOTE: it’s a “dot-ORG” (not .com). There are a lot of sites that are just as good, but this one is my favorite.
Free to join, free to use and absolutely one of the best sites to use regarding specifics on how to detail a car. I’m a member, and post there often. I’ve had several Porsches and depending on color, there are a few different techniques to try for best results. My P-car is pure black and shines like wet glass, not a swirl, spider-web or imperfection anywhere.
Be prepared to spend a entire day (or more) depending on the results you want.
If you sign up ... mention me “SaintlySins” as your reference. Doesn’t get me anything more than brownie-points, but all references are good.
If you have any specific questions after looking through that site, feel free to ask me here or there.
All the best.

Thanks SaintlySins.
I'll give autopia.com a try and will let them know where I got the reference.

NO ... NOT "DOT COM"

IT'S "DOT ORG" ... AS IN WWW.AUTOPIA.ORG

Otherwise you'll think I steered you wrong.

I really like Griot's products. The clay and speed shine work very well. I don't have an orbital yet, but thinking about it.

we have the griots orbital and all the pads/polishes that go with it. we love ours. it's lightweight and easy to use. your arms don't break off from holding for an hour! my hubby used to own a detail shop, so he's tried tons of orbitals out there. this one, for personal use is a great one.

good luck and enjoy if you get it!

+1 on Griots. I started with a small sample of their product and have been purchasing more and more. Really brought back the shine to my Orient Red C4S. Went through the clay, hand polish then wax. Also, the Speedshine is great for touchups. For in-between waxes, try their spray shine applied while drying.
just a happy customer . . .

Yolev:

I am really into the detailing and I am a good customer of Griot's. The Orbital Buffer Kit is a must if you are into great finishes. I have used it on my dailey driver and of course my BLACK - 99C2.

I cannot say enough about the system!

What polish grades do you use/suggest with the orbital? Just interested--thanks (and thought it might be of interest to the OP)

Hi JonC4S:

The standard Polish-#3 is reccomended to start with. But the good people at Griot's can help you understand everything you need to know. I talk to Dave at Griot's and he has been great.

Prices are good, quality is great. What a deal! I have just started using Griot's in November and have really enjoyed the experience.

Especially BLACK paint jobs, getting the surface scratches out are a cinch and the paint looks like it was poured on the car...no surface scratches at all!

The waxes and all other chemicals are just great too. And you really need the Orbital Buffer to really get the full value os the system.

How are things up in the Cities? I get up there a lot for business..I get everwhere a lot for business in fact. Sales
