Valentine 1 is the way to go. The arrows are to drive and live by. Once you go V you'll never drive the same.

I had a passport escort 8500 but then switched to the V1. The V1 is well worth its money

i just got a 05 c4s that has a k40 front and rear installed. does anyone else have one of these? there is a toggle that makes the button, underneath the psm button, turn yellow or green. does anyone know what this means? so far, it seams to work better than my 8500 i have on my other cars.

I have the Passport SRX and love it. The V1 is great but I got sick of having it on my windshield and wanted something stealth that also offered better laser protection.

I did a ton of looking, and for myself (early 07') and had it down to the X50 and V1. Each had their strong/weak points with band monitoring, and depending on what sites you looked at for reviews.........so I called that piece in-itself a wash. Long-story-short....... I took the V1 because it is the only detector that also does rear radar.

Now...........Since ownership, some items I would comment on.

The mounting is much "smaller" than I had originally thought. The unit is not large at all. I have mine hardwired down into the fusebox (with the supplied V1 stuff), and mounted about 1/4" away to the right of my mirror. It does not "stick out" at all.....so I like that. When I received the V1, I immediately noticed that every item is made with quality AND there is plenty of supplied items for any mounting. (even extra, and different sized suction cups).

Granted the V1 is +$100 from the X50, but if I had to do it again, I'd still get the V1,
I've been VERY happy with the detection and distance.

I close with this. First looking at others opinions, many of the comments were about "THE ARROWS"...........I hate to say it but agree, they are nice to have w/o a doubt.

GOOD SHOPPING!

The K40 is a weak radar detector that can't jam any lidar guns used by police. Get it removed and get a Valentine One and a real laser jammer like the Laser Interceptor.

I've owned 3 Escort Passports,8500, X50, etc. Now I own a V1 that is hardwired in my C4S. It is the best by far, I love it, especially the arrows everyone has been talking about. Another advantage is that when Valentine has an update, you can send it to him for the upgrade and he will ship it back within 48 hours, or he will send you the upgrade to do yourself. This way you don't ever have to buy another radar detector when they upgrade them or come out with something new, like with the Passports. Mike Valentine is still using the same case that he used when the V1 came out in 1994 which makes the upgrading very easy to do.

I wouldn't use anything else.

We install "Valentine1" as radar detector and then "Target Lasertrack" as jammer. IMO best combination.

Best is to just purchase the unit directly from www.Valentine1.com this way you can just send it back for upgrades when need it.
