"......the first week i bought the car , i got killed by a z06 that i meant in the country ! since then i have not been ok with performance."

I don't care what you do to that car....you'll never get close to a Z 06. I cant' even nail one in my 02TTX50!! You're in the wrong car chasing useless mods and wasting money if you're using a Z 06 as the benchmark you're trying to beat.

I started out in a 99 996 C2 and pumped all sorts of money into mods....and after it was all said and done, I figure I spent $5K and picked up maybe 35-40 hp. The best mods were the mufflers (psychological audio-feedback), the RSS Plenum...actual HP increase, and the PSS9s (much better cornering). The rest of the mods were fluff. If you want to beat a Z 06 you'd need to get into something a lot bigger than a 3.4 litre engine.

Chuck

I can't agree more. No the Z06 is no benchmark its uncomparable. Since that day i realized that i wanted to mod to make it seem faster . Debating this summer to change to a 996 tt or a 997S. I just love the new body look of the 997 and the interior.

I appreciate all your comments, i just need to hear it from guys that went through this stuff.

Since i have factory warranty, i need to avoid certain troubles so this summer it will be the pse, cat back and headers, ssk. Iam sue ill love the noise and i hope that makes me sleep better .

35-40 hp more if a qmile time is 13.1 stock how much should that chop off, just for my curiosity. i dont know how they calculate these numbers.

First off every thing you listed with maybe the exception of the cats is a waste of money and time.If you want to hunt down a ZO6 you are in the wrong car, I don't care what you do to that motor you wont have enough. Its true even a TT has a hard time chasing down a Z06.I was you, and I learned the hard way, the C2 is a great great car, I loved mine so much but in the end it was still not a quick 1/4 car.It sounds like to me the TT is the car you should be driving, one of the best cars to mod for what you want.

you can get a '01 996TT for $50k-ish. plus imagine auto GT700 kit for $25K (plus engine rebuild with race rods and forged pistons and stronger head studs, etc. $????). now you've got an $80-90k-ish *monster* that will eat Z06s all day long. heck, it will even make a hayabusa look over his shoulder to see what's keeping up with him.

but what's the point? you can get a '06 Z06 for $60k-ish. if you want a vette, get a vette. i think the Z06 is an awesome car. however, i will always choose my C4S.

would need to do a chip upgrade too...then you will see ~25hp gain...this will move the power up the rpm band so your launch will feel a little slower...over 5k the car will fly...question is how comfortable are you driving in that rpm range on public roads??? will sound awesome...

If you want to beat a Z06, then buy a Z-06 and be a better driver than the guy next to you that's wearing the snake skin boots and 8-ball leather jacket. Other than that you're pretty much out of luck with the P-cars unless you're looking at a RUF 590hp or a GT2. Even then you probably wont win, but you will maintain some a shred of dignity.
