I am surprised by this story. I have never had any work done there but I had to pick up something for a friend and for me too...I dropped in unannounced and Arling came right out...had a guy grab what I needed and it was done and done.

Maybe Arling will read this and reply...it is very much NOT their style. They are known for above and beyond customer service.

In that area...pretty much LUCENT and AUTOTALENT is where I would go.

Definitely will go into detail at a later time, but Auto Talent (www.autotalent.com) in West LA is top notch, for BMWs and Porsches. Location is perfect Sepulveda Blvd / Santa Monica Ave and right off the 405. For value and quality of service, these guys (Simon/Sam/Zolte) are top notch. Looks like they proved themselves in the BMW market and are adding in Porsche service/sales into the mix.

Just got my JIC Cross Suspension installed along with an oil change. Will do a more thorough write-up very soon of both the suspension and the great service experience. Going to install the Tequipment rollbar and some H&R Sways, most likely with TRG drop links, at some point in time in the near future. You can be sure I'll be going back to Auto Talent. They are also a sponsor of this forum.

No prob. Happy I found a good shop close to where I live that knows their stuff and that I can trust. They had some nice project cars in the works also. Their shop is definitely function over form, but they can take care of your needs fast. Not going to keep raving though because I think other 6speeder's should check out the place and start letting their reputation speak for itself.

Thanks again Auto Talent. Will be back soon!

BTW, My profile says Irvine, but I'm currently living in Westwood.

Kurt,
sorry for what happened. i just got back in town after nearly 3 weeks actually. Had some other stuff need to be taken care of oversea. although that's not an excuse but for the guys that know me or Tom personally know we don't treat people like that because that just not our style. Certainly that wasn't me on the phone. all pals that comes in are car guys & friends. one thing i do hate is people coming they just parked right in the middle of the driveway so no one else can get in... Oh well. anyway, we owe u an apology. send me an email below with ur number i'll give ya a call. again, not business related. just make a friend.

Hey thanks for the kind post, but really -no worries and no apology needed. Everything I hear (repeatedly) from everyone on the 6 about Lucent is high marks and praises, so it is clear that you're doing some things very right.
I'm sure my experiences were an exception and not the norm. It happens.

LUCENT.....I bought my PSS9's from a guy a block away from Arling and Tom. It was on ebay and the price was $1400 NEW. Arling new about them and vouched for the kit....I was leary, but Arling told me to get them (I already had technically...lol). I made an appointment to have them installed. Dropped the car off, and they got working...turns out some parts were NOT in the kit. They could have just put my car nback together, charged me labor for their time and told me to call Bilstein...but instead, they FOUND another C4 kit somewhere (they were out of stock), got it and took the parts from it to complete my install that day. No extra charge, and they dealt with Bilstein....great guys...All this and they didnt even sell me the PSS9s!

Sorry to hear about your experience, it does definitely sound like an anomaly in regards to Lucent's service - they are seriously the "Nordstroms" of tuning when it comes to customer service, regardless of make/year of vehicle.

Looks like Arling has extended an olive branch here as well. Moreover reassuring that you'll get the right service if you decide to try them in the future. I drive from Orange County to Los Angeles to have my cars worked on, there are several good tuners and I have literally my pick of industry friends to go to for work on my vehicles - I still choose to drive to LA and have my car worked on at Lucent.
