Anybody tried B&G coilovers?

Just curious. They are priced very reasonably.

Seems like a bargain at $1400. Do you think it's one of those you get what you pay for scenarios?
I checked out the manufacturers site. Pretty impressive. Seems like that have thier **** together.

No bargain. It's a coilover system, but it's not adjustable. It seems to be only available for the C2 996. For my C4, the adjustable system is the only system available and is WAAAAYYYY more than I paid for my PSS9 system and more than the JIC system as well.

Oops. Forgot to mention. The actual retail price of these is much less than MSRP. I think they list the C2 non adjustable for almost 2K, but they can had from several places for $1400.

Not really a bargain at all....Even at $1400. Yuou basically have a matched spring and shock set. As you have said earlier, you can get Cargraphic/Bilstein HD's set for $1150. Since neither is adjustable they would probably be similar, and I would go with the lifetime warranty of Bilstein. This seems to be a pretty new company, so I would be leary that they could make a system better than others. I still would spend the money on an adjustable system, why cut corners on a Porsche...you get what you pay for, you said it yourself. The adjustable system even at another place is still $2600. A PSS9 system is $1800.

Not sure if I'd call them "new":
B+G Suspension is a wholly owned subsidiary of the
Lesjöfors Group, one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of spring based technology. Since the production of the first spring in 1852 at our Lesjöfors, Sweden factory, Lesjöfors has been committed to quality and technology. The company has flourished based on the principle that technical know-how and total quality are the most important factors for satisfied customers. Today the Lesjöfors Group consists of 10 manufacturing units throughout Scandinavia, with sales companies across Europe and now North America.

They are adjustable as far as ride height since they are coilovers. I do understand the argument of not cheaping out on a porsche. Just don't want to put something in that is way beyond what I plan on using.

Why not go for X74... Yes it will be a little more expensive but it is Porsche OEM parts and is a non-adjustable coilover system..

Greyghost (Britt) had it on his old C2 and loved it when he had that car.

My final input on this, it's your car, do what you want to do with it. But if you want a BETTER ride quality, the PSS9 is a better system. I am sure if you bought it, you would use the shock adjustability. With so many happy 996 owners with PSS9's, how can you go wrong. I have done springs only on my 986 and it is not even an option for me on my 996.

I talked with bilstein US today. Figured they could give me some good advice on this. I was actually considering the PSS9 setup.

He said we would not recommend using the PSS's on the cab. He said there is too much chassis flex on the cab and it will probably damage the car since there is no roof structure. He has had cab customers that have flexed their windshiels. His cab customers have not been nearly as happy as his coupe customers. He told me the spring rate is three times what stock is. He told me that the ride is good with the PSS, but the severe spring rate will probably eventually cause damage to the cab. he told me that he has them in his M3 and he can't figure out how they ride so good with such a crazy spring rate.

He also recommended not purchasing the european carnewal pss's. He said they change several things on them for US customers when they are imported into the US. He went through several technical aspects on things they change for US customers so that they will fit properly and operate as they should (diff springs, etc).

He recommended either trying just springs with stock shocks, or a spring shock combo. He didn't recommend a specific spring, but he did say their sport shocks work pretty well with lowered springs. He did that the spring rate should match the shock or you could even bottom out the sport shocks.

Damn, back to the drawing board. And I was just about ready to plunk down for the PSS after listening to all the rave reviews. Still don't think I would have needed it, but at least it would have been the right tool for the right job. Oh well. Not sure what I'll do now. Didn't even think about the chassis flex issues. Not sure if this applies to all coilovers or just the PSS. The bilstein guys said it's his job so sell this stuff, but he wouldn't feel right recommending the PSS on a cab.

The research continues. Maybe the X74? Can you use the x74 without the sway bar option? The bilstein rep didn't know if this was going to be an issue with all stiffer lowering setups, or if it was just an issue with the PSS.
