my initial thoughts are that there's too many cars out there for sale than to settle for one that's been wrecked. Regardless of the type of accident there's the stigma to go with it. That said, it would be worth it if the price was right but the price isn't a "can't miss".

i'd pass and keep looking if it were me. i could've settled but ended up waiting and got exactly what i was looking for at the right price simply by being patient.

Someone please give me objective reasons to dislike this car, since I fear I'm falling in love!

Pros:
low mileage
dealer is local (unlike 95% of listings, which are in CA)
dealer is a MB restorer, not a shady wholesaler
tiptronic + C4 (first car + boston winters)
pretty steering wheel (I'm a sucker for it, can't deny it)

Cons:
price (??)
carfax lists one accident (will have to follow up, is this a deal killer?)
2 owner car (first owner had it for 4 months)
some useless options (e.g. I'm guessing PCM < $400 garmin)
no hardtop (though I think I could pick one up for ~$300 w/ some effort)
Others? Please explain!

Thanks in advance to everyone for the advice. I posted on rennlist but got no love. I think I'm so hot for a 996 that I may be confusing lust for love w/ this one.

For that kind of money you could find a good wide body 4s,with no accidents.

So I'm confused about all these threads talking about how beautiful the c4s is from behind.

When I compare internet photos, the rears look the same minus the horizontal airflow vents (I have no idea what to call them) on the back bumper.

Is it that the c4s is wider? That would explain it, since the photos I've been looking at aren't side-by-side so it's hard to get a sense of scale/proportion.

+ 1 on the widebody. The difference between a NB and a WB becomes even more noticable one you own a 996. That is the only thing I would do differently.

Those rear hips sure are nice to look at.
