Supercharged 996 vs 997TT showdown

You DO NOT want self contained oil. One of the advantages of using the engine's oil system is the cooling. Also, one of many drawbacks of a positive displacement blower (it is not a compressor like the centrifuge), is that the power hits a wall at higher rpms. The blower may give you power a little sooner and looks good on a dyno chart, but winning races is all about acceleration and a centrifuge SC wins that battle everyday as it builds in power all the way to redline.

Self contained vs. oil lines with cooling has been a long debate with positive answers in both directions. I am not convicted to the oil lines and cooling only because I have great engine compartment cooling plus I am using an aftercooler to reduce input temps. The aftercooler does not do anything for the charger cooling itself but I am content that I have proper and safe cooling regardless. I still prefer the roots system on our tracks down here. With 14.5" wide tires and instant boost, I literally slingshot out of the corners past my fellow drivers. Our longest straights at the three local tracks are less than 1800 feet and I well ahead of the crew before I reach the top of those straights. Just my .02.
