How to remove exhaust tips? Help Please..

I took off both the 13mm bolts for each tip and the bolts and a few other goodies came out, but the exhaust tips are still on very tight.

I can shake it and move it a little bit, but it feels like something is still "grabbing" it.

Anyways, any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

You will not be able to just take off the tip, its attached to the pipe going to the muffler, its around 6 or 8" and curves up.

Last Car is infamous around these parts
Hi,
I just did this but I'm not sure what you are asking? Are you trying to take the tips off of the stock muffler or the muffler by-pass tips? If it just the tips off of the muffler and you have removed the 'band' type clamps, my guess is that you just need to 'whack' it a little and it should just fall off. If it's the by-pass tips, you might have to 'twist' the pipe a little.
Hope this helped,

It will be very diffcult to just remove the exhaust tips from the exhaust cans bc the pipe does curve-up and held by a tough clamp (like "Kilrgt" said earlier). You need to use Tim's trick (Gota911) to spread apart that clamp with couple of screw drivers in scissor-style and squeeze the hell out of it, not easy... Even if you manage to take it off, it will be even harder to put that pipe back on with the new tips attached. I think it's better if you just remove the whole muffler with the tips out of the car and then remove that clamp and attached pipe with the new tips. Good luck!

Those clamps are cheap, you can order them from Sunset Porsche in OR for few bucks. When I replaced my OEM exhaust cans with TA, I also changed my clamps as they are hard to open/close when they are old and dirty/rusty.

Alex, did you manage to remove the tailpipe tips? I used a 13mm ratchet socket and the screws were pretty easy to loosen, but just like you stated, something keeps the tips from coming off even though they're very loose. I'm buying a reverse action pliers to open the clamp where the nut & bolt was removed from, it seems that it's still tight in that section.

Best of luck !
