15K service.. What's involved?
My car has reached the 15,000 mile mark and it goes in to the shop next week.
Aside from an oil change, what else is involved at the 15k service?

The 2 main items of a 15K service are:
1. change oil and filter
2. change Pollen filter
And the usual "check this and that"
If you are even a halfway DIYer you can do the whole thing in under an hour for less that $80 (oil and filters)
There are several DIY instructions on Renntech.com
with them money you save, take your mate to a nice dinner.

if i remember correctly...i was quoted $400 by beverly hills porsche
If i do it myself, assuming everything is done correctly, will the service dept try to void my warranty if i take it in the future? (will this hurt me in the future?)
thanks for the help so far

It will be extremely difficult to do a proper 15K in 1 hr. especially on the ground and not doing them everyday.
One thing you did forget that is very important... CLEAN THE DRAINS (and the radiators)! Usually if your doing a 15K I would say take it to the dealer anyway they know what to look for and can help with warranty work before it's too late.
Good luck!

peter i would just have the dealer do the 15k service... eventhough u have to pay for it, it will be quick and easy, also they can take a look at the car and see if there is anything else wrong for my car..
my car too is in the shop... for the 30k mile service lol (it actually just 28k) they're just changing the pollen filter and air filter.. since my NEw motor only has 2,500 miles on it

As it has been said, "there is a sucker born every minute", so it is with these big buck, big profit margin, low effort maintenance items. Your dealer is in business to take your money, and give you some level of value for it. Unfortunately the periodic maintenance services offered on today's cars does not give the value for what you pay.
I believe that it is important to know your car, and to be able to do the simple items like change oil, and filters. In the process, you learn about the mechanicals of your car, and spot issues, before they become problems.
If you are shy or unsure about your capabilities, then find someone that knows this stuff, and let them mentor your through it the first time, you will be amazed at how simple it is.
Just because you have an expensive car, does not mean that you have to be loose with your money.
Those of us who are a little more grey, and have made our fortunes did not do it by giving it away needlessly.
I would be happy to show anyone how to change their oil and filters, and how to inspect the mechanicals of their car. Just let me know.
