C4S owners

1. Can you tell me your avg. mpg and if it's a daily driver or weekend warrior?

2. Are C4S capable of doing burnouts?

3. Can the AWD system ever be disengaged? Any software or mechanical parts to be able to do this?

Future C4S owner .

1. 18 mpg - mix of DD and weekend warrior as I have a truck suv to drive around when I feel like there is a need for it.

2. I don't do burnouts on any of my cars, but I'm sure it'd be very hard to do with the C4S and you'd be harming the car's drivetrain.

3. Why would you want to do this? Just get a regular RWD Carrera or GT3. I've heard it can be done, but it's not as easy as the 993.

If you ask these 3 questions about a C4S, you'll probably never own one. If you're worried about burnouts and disengaging AWD, there are better forums to post on(Mustang Forum)

1. 19-20 mpg, weekend warrior mostly
2. Not really
3. Yes, mechanically. Check the turbo forum, a lot of guys have done it there, no so much with C4Ss.

I have actually considered converting mine to two-wheel drive. Why? Weight loss and better handling (reduced understeer) is what I hear from the TT guys. I never drive my car in the rain or snow so no need for AWD. I like the C4S for the wide body and don't care to get a narrow body car as Ben suggested. My $.02...

I will own one in the near future. I am just doing my research. It doesn't seem like you own one since you didn't answer my questions.

I only ask about being able to disengage the awd b/c I think it would be neat to be able to have this feature. It's kind of like the PSE, on when you want it and off when you want it quiet.

I have a Trailblazer SS as my daily driver and it's AWD. I love the way it handles for a SUV. The AWD system is always there and there's really no way around it. Now with the Cherokee STR8, guys have been able to disengage the front drivetrain via electronically with the switch of a button Voila, rear wheel drive burnouts. I was wondering if this was possible with the C4S.

Thank you for ASSuming I would never own one. I've own a few Mustangs in the past and yes I still lurk in the forums.

Everyone else, thanks for the info.

+1

Why would you even want to abuse a Porsche like that? Porsche drivetrains are a tad more expensive than mustangs.

Abuse? If they can't be driven aggressively, why would anyone pay so much for a car thats meant to be driven hard(not garage queens). If anything, I would expect it to handle more abuse than a "mustang". I understand you have to pay to play, but that's not the point.

First off, calm the hostility. These are not torque monsters, rather overall rpm performance cars. Your question does not relate to Porsches, hence the Mustang comment by the other member. Porsche owners, for the most part, do not do burnouts, period.

1. 17mpg daily commuter
2. It's AWD. I don't think you can burnout, even if you tried.
3. Do a search on it. You can convert the C4S to RWD. But since you don't own one yet, why not get a Carrera S instead?

The AWD system is always on, but in normal conditions 95% of the power goes to the rear wheels, with a min of 60%. The change from AWD to RWD is a mechanical change (as I mentioned before), it cannot be engaged and disengaged easily with a switch (as far as I know). Again, do a search over in the turbo section, you'll find plenty of info over there. good luck.
