Brake wear light on.... how long do I have
#17
If the brake light is not on constant it is just likely that your are low on brake fluid and need to top it off. When a brake wear sensor trips, the light stays on all the time. Check you fluid level, directions should be in the owners manual, reservoir is in the trunk (front).

My dealer told me that I needed front brakes a month ago (no light) the pads have enough material but comparing them with new pads, it's nothing!

If both sensors are not worn..... do I need 2?
Why get new Caliper screws? Whats wrong with the old ones?
Why get new retaining clips/pin... just a piece of metal?
Anti squeak things.... mine don't look worn or anything why new?
I know any dealer or website will try and sell u everything but why would u need all these new parts when the old ones are just pieces of metal/bolts/rubber that aren't rusted/cracked/or stripped?
I took apart the rear and it was all good. then the front and my front left had the brake pad sensor worn through on one side.... So im doing a front brake job.
Checking/replacing the pads is ridiculously easy compared to every other car I have done. You need a hammer and screwdriver.

Hi, you are correct and you won't need all the parts, it's just my OCD to have everything new and my car is a 2002 with 90K miles, so a refresh is not that crazy.
My indy changed the rotors/pads/screws/clips, etc. I could not believe how easy that was. Not specialized tools. He did one side in 30 minutes and that was while he talked to me all the time. Great guy and he charged me $100 in labor!
I will do the rears myself!

I was always scared to work on the P-Car myself.. even doing the oil scared me. Now that I have started working on my car myself I have found that Porsche made things so simple it seems. The most specialized tool I have ever needed was the locking lug cap adapter haha

I too had the intermittent brake sensor warning. It was a shorted wire but since pads were close enough and track season starting, I had my mechanic change the sensors when I went to Hawk HP Plus pads. Imagine my surprise on my first track day in this car, my sensor came back on in the first sessions. Apparently, I COOKED the sensors (and I didn't think I was braking THAT hard).
Now where's that thread on modifying the brake cooling ducts.........
