the new 997 4 and 4S for 2009 just got the re-birth of the red tail light surround. i was kind of hoping it would skip that generation as an honour to the fact that the 996 kind of saved Porshce's bacon.

looks great, glad they brought it back though initial view tells me it is best executed on the 996 c4s.

 

 

It's a definite improvement over the current 997 4/4S, but still not a nice as the 996 4S that has the red reflector in even height with the taillamps across the engine cover.

 

Glad they fixed that! The 997 looked a little bare in the rear!

 

i agree and in fact it is possible that the half way job on the 997 reflector may make people appreciate the 996 version that much more!

they have a pic on their site of the new look in a dark colour and the thin red reflector gets a little lost. i think the current treatment needs a light colour to work.

 

i like it... i think one of the trademark that sets the 4s apart and making it one of the sexiest back around is that red accent....

 

I think the 996's stripe is much better looking the way it blends seamlessly into the red stripe on the bottom of the light.

On the other hand, I like the 997 look as a whole and love the idea of LEDs

 

Sorry but the shape of those new rear lights look really weird to me.... the first generation 997 rear lights really appealed to me by comparison. I do like the strip though...

 

Shape of the new rear lights suck. The rear reflector is too skinny. The rear end to me is really looking similar to a Cayman.

 

996 C4S rear end is, imho, and some what biased opinion considering that's why I bought one, a far superior look

 

They are putting the reflector on both the C4 and the C4S... (!!)

I dont get Porsche marketing...
