Kurt/Peter:

Yes, I can blame the both of you and your videos for "making" me spend $$ in my first QTR of Porsche ownership. I'm excited to hear it in person and as Peter mentioned I plan on attending the Irvine C&C perhaps I'll see some of you guys here there. It's actually a car Sat. for me as later in the afternoon
I 'll be headed to F. Jones for their AMG performance tour- should be fun. Anyways see you guys soon and thanks again for your guys input and video work!

Hey Sherm what's up! Yep yep- guilty as charged.. but I would like to point the blame squarely at all long-time 6speed members- they corrupted me.

Where specifically in Irvine is the C&C?

Kurt congrats on the sale and thanks for your contribution here. I learned a lot from some of your threads.

I also want to thank you for helping me spend more money than I though I would have to on my car to make it better.....

Seriously, get the new ride and hope to see you back here soon

David - thanks man, have appreciated your input as well. Great crowd in the 996 area.

swift- well, was tired of the tiptronic and figured with the soft pricing on 997's, why not??

Congrats on the sale from me too. You both helped me out on the mod front so many thanks for that (just bought a set of KW V3s based mainly on your write up!) Oh, and good luck on the 997 hunt...

Oh, I didn't realize you were rolling tiptronic, wise decision, 997s are very nice, I'd try to swing a Carrera S, test drove one and they are very nice.

Although the 997 MKII CS bumped up to 385hp!!!

Swift- yeah looking for an S, so we'll see. I've test-driven a couple and have been impressed. The tip has it's advantages, and definite ease-of-use in traffic- but lacking in some of the driving experience. I'm sure the new auto-manual 7-speed coming out on the new models will be incredible.

Dervish- you're gonna love those KW's! Be sure to let them break in for a week before getting final alignment, set them up at -2 clicks from full firm for bump, and -3 clicks from full firm on rebound for the first week. Car will feel very go-cart-like and suspension will settle slightly. Get aligned after a week of driving, then dial in final ride height prefs.
I had mine lowered and aligned to GT3 street specs, those settings are in the alignment computer.

I found the following settings to my liking for daily driving:
Front: -5 clicks from firm on bump, -7 clicks from firm on rebound.
Rear: -3 clicks from firm on bump, -5 clicks from firm on rebound.

If you want it more agressive:
Front: -3 clicks from firm on bump, -5 clicks from firm on rebound
Rear: -2 clicks from firm on bump, -3 clicks from firm on rebound

If you get too agressive on firmness of rebound, you will not get enough weight transfer over rear wheels when cornering- car will be very "tail happy", whipping the ****-end out around a turn is easy and could catch you off guard.

Thanks, I'll print that off and take it with me for the install. It's being installed and aligned by the same guys who deal with Manthey-Racing in the UK, they usually fit the Manthey KW V3s but that would be overkill on a C2 (and another $2000!)... Are they easy to adjust or do you need to jack the car up? I'm going either GT3 height or RS Have the GT3 ARBs, new AP droplinks and GT3 top mounts to compliment...

wow- sounds like your pcar is going to drive very nice afterwards. fyi you do not need the drop links with the KW's unless you are also changing to different swaybars.

easy to adjust, although when your car is lowered you will need some low ramps to roll your car onto to be able to reach under the car and adjust the bottom settings. either that or a sloped-up driveway with a flat top, and let the front or rear of the car stick up over the flat portion to be able to get clearance under car.

The bottom settings require a larger alan wrench which is not included with the kit. the top settings are cake.

Sorry for hijacking your sold thread by the way, just your the guy to ask on the V3 set up...
Yeah I've got the OEM GT3 sway bars hence the new drop links. Think I'll just use a racing jack and adjust each corner in turn... I'll post after next weekend with my initial results, can't wait.
Why don't you by pass the 997 and find a good 996 GT3RS? Just playing devil's advocate...
