Should I sell the 996 for a Cayenne???
Ok, so I go back and forth to school and go to the beach a lot because I am in Daytona. I love my 2000 996, but I just feel like maybe I should get an SUV or something...therefore I have to stick with porsche so the cayenne (S)...the problem is I want a turbo but the only ones in my range are like 60k+ miles on em....I dunno what do you guys have for ideas? I guess I should end up keeping the 911, cause it is a 911 LOL...

haha yeah 911 turbo is what i really really want...but i am also considering murdering out the 996 (997 carrera s wheels in black) but I would love to put rims on a cayenne and black it out as well...

Get the Cayenne and keep your 996. My wife has a Cayenne 2006 for 2 years next August with 25K miles, it needed brake pads at 19K,the rest only oil and filter every 6 months.
For me it handles better in curves than my C2. Probably due to AWD. Both are daily driven.

I got rid on my Cayenne S and my Audi allroad 6 speed and purchased a loaded Mazda CX9 and my 996 Cab. No matter how hard I try to find one car that is practical as DD but fun to drive, I fail. That said I miss the allroad far more than the Cayenne. I never like the transmission in the Cayenne. Maybe the Cayenne GTS with a 6 speed would fit the bill better.

stating the obvious
-two totally diff cars - the cayenne is a gas guzzling SUV or a super touraeg (sp?)
the new cayenne looks WAY better than the old cayenne. the only way i'd give up my 911 for a cayenne is if it's a gts (turbo is laggy) with the full techart/speedart aerokit on 22" wheels. that's like at least a $120K+ spend right there since i don't like the old cayenne design at all.
that's then getting me well into 997 GT3 territory. i'd much rather have a real truck like a cheap XJ cherokee and a GT3 than one fancy SUV that no one gives a **** about unless it's modified.
i find the cayenne to be a complete waste of money as with most other german SUVs. i don't understand some of your fiscal advice here saying get the cayenne and save money to get the 996 TT when the 996TT is cheaper than the cayenne in a lot of cases. wtf

Depends on your wants. If you need to climb mountains, or tote trailers, soccer *****, or baby seats around, get the cayenne. If you want fast and sporty and do not need the extra space keep whatcha got.
If you want a nice comfy daily driver that still turns some heads, seats 4 and does it fast with great handling, get new mercedes C class AMG v8 or m3/m5. I guess I am oversimplifying but what are you trying to accomplish? Just having a "cool car" or do you find yourself needing something you do not have?
As a suggestion, I LOVED my old range rover and if I were to buy a new SUV today, it would be the range rover sport or HSE..thanks to high gas prices they are just getting cheap enough. The only problem is that a warranty is a must have, and you better live close to the service center.
Where in AL do you live? I know this is not something someone who schools in FL wants to hear, but ROLL TIDE

To me a cayenne is a car produced for guys who really want a 911 but cant have one for whatever reason, be it kids, groceries, wife, practicality etc. IMO, if you want a sports car buy one...if you want an suv buy a jeep. I cant imagine ever driving a cayenne and not feeling like im kidding myself....cause no matter what mods you add to it, it still remains an suv in the end, a real expensive one.

I think I am going to just keep the 911 because even though its a pain to get golf clubs or a skimboard for the beach in it, it still can do it! Also makes a pretty good car for being in college in a college spring break town....ladiiieeeeesss!!
Thanks for the insight guys! But now it is time to let the moddings begin!

I'd buy roof racks for the 996 over a Cayenne any day.
