Michael Shaw Design
I have a 2001 Carrera Cab. I have decided to do the round headlight conversion, which requires custom front fendors and bumper. There are several suppliers of these kits. The one I am most interested in is Michael Shaw Designs, http://mashaw.biz/index.asp
Has anyone here bought parts from Michael Shaw before? If so, what are your comments about the fit and quality?
Thanks!

I have exchanged emails with him a few times and I agree he sounds very honest. I am hoping someone here has installed his parts before, which will give me some confidence before buying.

i wouldn't do it.... it might look like a 997 front, but the sides and the rear end is completely different....... and when someone looks in your car, it's over....... makes you look like a poser......NOW if you switch it out to the 02 model..... that would look much nicer.......but your dollar.....

I want to change to the circular headlights because of two reasons, (1) there are no front bumper covers available for the 99-01 that I like, and (2) I like the circular headlights better than the two preceeding designs.
Posing would be me changing the entire front end clip including the hood to 05+. Porsche owners will know my car is not an 05+ due to the hood lines.
Anyway, if anyone has any experience with Michael Shaw designs, I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

If I had a front end collision and had to do cosmetic surgery, I would either do this conversion of just MKII conversion. Either way, it is making the car something it was not.. but so is my aero kit, so are my wheels, so is the tint, so are all modifications.
That's the point of modding- to sculplt your car the way you like it. I say go for it, with enthusiasm.
99.9% of the people on the road dont know what a 993 996 or 997 is anyway.. its not like you will get negative attention from anyone but porsche purists online. Someone here HAS done this conversion because I bought his old headlights a year or so ago.
Michael shaw has a lot of happy customers on this sight with wings and aero kits.

Side Skirts and Rear Bumper??
If I were to go with the 997 style front lights & bumper, what side skirts and rear bumper do you think would be best to complete the combination?
I have 19" Carrera Classic wheels.

Bumper- I would use his turbo rear.
Skirts- unless you use the ones that curve up at the doors all look the same to me.
Here is another alternative with the option to get more aggressive bumper

MASHAW is a good place. The parts come out nice, but they are not PERFECT when you get them. Heck no fiberlagss or carbon parts are. You still need to find a good shop that can work well with the materials and get it just right. Every car has it's own quirks about it and the alignment isn't the same on all cars.
I just did a whole front end with the parts and I am very, very happy with it all. The body shop that did my car is doing a 996 Gt3 coversion and making it a 997GT3RS. The GT3 was wrecked car and it needed panels anyways, and when you own the shop you need something to show off the work you can do
The fenders he got are very nice!
