Welcome to my weekly "hey 6speed, what's wrong with my car?" thread
This weeks edition - when I press the remote buttons the car won't lock and the hood won't pop BUT the red light flashes like it should actuate. This is a new one on me...anyone got some info on this?

lol....gotta have some humor with these cars. Yep, doors are closed and will lock when you hit the button on the console but won't unlock or lock with the remote

Has the car been sitting for an extended period of time?
Will the hood open from inside the car?
What year?

If the battery sits to long it will go dead. The remote wont work but can be reprogrammed easily just search (something about putting it in the ignition taking it out hitting the button or something)
When the battery dies a little lock will slide inside the handle of the trunk release on the 99's. I dont know how to fix that other then getting a thin knife in there and manually sliding the little plate lock back out of the way.
Of course this is assuming it was a battery issue

The answer has been given...what MY? The remote will go to sleep if not used for 5+ days. To waken the remote, open the door with the mechanical key and then hit the remote button within 5-10 seconds. If this does not work, reset the key fob by removing the battery and putting the batter in reverse polarity for 10 seconds, then replace the battery correctly. If this does not work, you may need to get the FOB re-programmed...this can only be done with a PST2 or PIWIS (e.g., dealer).
