996 to GT3 decklid conversion wiring harness - HELP

Just install a GT3 wing/decklid on my 02 996 and have trouble figuring out the removal of the existing wiring harness to fit on the new decklid.

I know there are 2 options. Use existing harness and jump some pins or get a new wiring harness for the fix wing decklid.

Where I'm not sure about is the removal of the existing harness. The wires attached to the wing motor does not unplug like the fan does. So am I suppose to cut the wires??

Where is the best place to buy a new harness for the fix wing? Thanks

P/S Kurt if you are out here... I've been chating with Loren on Renntech but he never answered my question about cutting the wires

never cut wires! The wiring harness are all modular and the connectors should be tucked in inside the engine compartment behind the right rear light... squeeze the connector then pull apart. Just follow the harness from the fan...

Huh? Do you mean the wires connected to the wing motor and be removed on the connector side instead?

Follow the wires until you find a plug and unplug it.

The socket where the rear tail light has been unplugged . I'm asking about the wires that connects to the wing motor.

unrelated...sorry

Hey Man, I'm actually curious where you got that 996 GT3 decklid? I've been looking all over for one!! I have a replica turbo fixed wing lid that I am looking to get rid of for the GT3 decklid!

Thanks. I hope someone was able to help you out with your wiring question. I agree that you should NEVER cut wires, because buying a harness, or, heaven forbid, having to buy the entire section of harness, can cost in the multiples of $1000s!!!

call suncoast... they know about this mod and know the part number for the fixed wing harness. I wouldnt cut the wire from the existing. Maybe one day you'll want to go stock again or sell the lid.

It shouldn't be that tough with the new harness. On my MY02, my painter did the work for me, and he said it was a piece of cake with the new harness that I picked up from Sunset. part number 996 612 070 51. Replaced the old harness with clips at both ends, reattached battery, and no CEL.

You should not have to reprogram your computer... it is a simple plug and play install.

Are you putting an actual GT3 deck lid or an MKII aero kit lid on the car. Hope the later or you might have bigger issues

I have already install the MKII wing/Decklid just can't seem to get the wiring harness to work. I was also told that the dealer could reprogram ECU to remove the Check light.
