$30-50K. What P car would you get?
#31
Have you driven any of these cars yet?

A proper PPI would show this type of problem, no?

i don't know what criteria consumer reports uses but had black circles on transmission major and minor, fuel system and engine cooling. Overall reliability of specifically the 03's was the worse rating possible with a black circle.
98-01, and 04, 06-07 were the best most reliable years

1) If the car has a Porsche Certified Warranty and this problem manifests itself over the life of the warranty (the specific car I'm looking at has 20 mo and 52k miles of Porsche warranty left), is it covered?
2) If I do a PPI and no Type 1 or Type 2 overrevs are found (or, a minimal # of Type 1 overrevs are found) am I still covered by the warranty.
3) Seems like the thread you referred me to deals mostly with TT 2nd gear pop out issues, but there are a few -- like yourself -- who have a C2/C4/Boxster with the same issue. Is it more prevelant in the TT or on all P-Cars in this range, in general?
I'm trying to protect myself, especially since I'd rather a Tip but this particular example may be too good to pass up and is, of course, a 6 speed.
Thanks.

Consumer reports is a bunch of fools. They scare the hell out of car buyers for nothing. They will take a line of trucks- toyota tundra for example, and give different ratings on the constants while ignoring the variables. A doublecab 4wd is a good buy and has good ratings, a single cab 2wd is a good buy with good ratings. A doublecab 2wd is the bottom of the quality list. Or they will give a mercedes s class high ratings one year, then the next where there has been no re-tooling or changes on the car, trash it.
Ignore them and their years and their quality ratings. If you want a car to never break, buy a camry- any year. If you want a sports car that will call for some repairs buy a porsche- any year

Thanks. So, of course I have more questions:
1) If the car has a Porsche Certified Warranty and this problem manifests itself over the life of the warranty (the specific car I'm looking at has 20 mo and 52k miles of Porsche warranty left), is it covered?
2) If I do a PPI and no Type 1 or Type 2 overrevs are found (or, a minimal # of Type 1 overrevs are found) am I still covered by the warranty.

Then, go and drive them all. Get the one that gives you the biggest smile with your criteria in mind. If you are worried about warranty, contemplate an aftermarket one if you don't get a CPO.
