Does anyone else out there go through tires and crack rims....I keep getting flats and thus cracking my 18" sport rims...The worst part is that when she goes flat it wrecks the sidewall tires for this car are not cheap!!!

What happens to cause all the flats? I've only had 2 flats in 20 yrs of driving.
If you are trashing the sidewall and cracking your wheel, you must either drive on the flat or have extreme blowouts.

I get flats like no other.

7 this year already! Nails, screws, metal bits, and one was flat due to a bent lip which let all the air out and completely destroyed my wheel and tire. 3 of those 7 times I was able to patch the tire.

I now get the cheapest tire possible for the streets.

I've only killed tires when autocrossing.

In normal street use, which for me includes some aggressive driving (when I won't get anyone else killed), I've not yet had a flat. I have picked up 3 nails, but I've caught all of them before they caused the tire to deflate, and had them patched. I believe I'm running on 2 patches right now.

I'm curious what types of failures you are having.

Tires are not cheap, but there are options. You should never have to pay full price for fronts, the used tire market for our front tires is VERY active (since rears get chewed up nearly twice as fast). I haven't purchased new front tires for my car except track tires, and I've had good luck picking up used rears as well. You can look on eBay, local PCA boards, pelican parts, here, even companies like Wheel Enhancement who always have near-new take-off tires.

Man, that sucks! The bent wheel must have been from a hard pothole hit? It's not easy to bend the wheel, unless you are running on crappy knockoffs?

I had that kind of luck when I lived in a community that was still being built. I picked up 7 nails in one day once (needless to say, that tire was toast). But I don't have that problem now that the construction crews are gone.

Where are you driving to get all this crap? Perhaps consider alternate routes??

Do you take your car through a car wash? The rails that pull the car through the car wash are not designed for low profile tires. The wheel drags along the rail and material is ground off of the inner lip leaving a rough edge for stress cracks to start.

The basic fwy such as 405 / 605. I never drive on the shoulder or anywhere where it is "offroad". I hardly drive aggressive at all. I drive my car at WOT maybe once in a month at most. I guess its my luck. Mine is always the rear tire that picks up the nail.

And as for my bent wheel, it was from an uneven pavement on the 57 fwy which I didn't see. And the wheels werent cheap. They were Fikse FM10.

i guess this really depends on the roads
in the past 2 years, for my p-car, i've gone thru 3 19" rear TechArt wheels from bents and cracks and 3 rear tires
on my daily MB S55 AMG though, i've gone thru 4 OEM double spoke 18" AMG wheels from bents and cracks and 4 tires

but i drive my cars through NYC

The next time you buy new tires (sounds like soon), take the road hazard warranty. I'm not usually a fan of that, but you need it!

You guys are really hard on your wheels. Our roads are trashed from last winter and construction. I've got 19's on the 911, 20's on the BMW and truck. We have only bent one wheel - wife hit a curb in a drive thru. Take it easy out there!

I tried purchasing the road hazard at my local shop (Autobacs) and they do not offer it for my Pcar

Do you think places such as discount tires offer that?

CA is so full of tire shops, you should have no problem finding one that will give you road hazard. Try Discount Tire. I think Tire Rack will even let you buy it online. You will be the exception, but road hazard is a huge profit item for the tire retailers.
Try All Star Tire or Grand Prix Tire also.
