Just joined the site and looking for fellow 996/997 owners in uniform. My car is nothing too extravagant. '99 Forest Green Metallic on Sand Beige with full leather and burl wood trim, tiptronic, fabspeed exhaust. I'm out at Fort Bliss right now. My 996 is actually for sale due to an upcoming deployment, but I'll more than likely get a 997 when I get back and want to try and build a military Porsche club in the interim.

I was a military (actually civilian) brat...

I was born and raised in Okinawa - my parents (Americans) worked for the US Army and Air Force. During my time there, I didn't see any Porsches. I do remember seeing, in the special order catalog at the PX, a Turbo Carrera listed with a military discounted price of $23,000. That was in 1976 if I recall correctly, and I wanted one ever since. Finally got a TT this year.

Is there still a discount on Porsches for military personnel? Big savings?
