I change the oil in my '02 C2 about every 7,500 miles or so and I almost never need to add any oil between changes.

What kind of oil usage are you seeing? What oil are use using (we have not had an oil thread in a while) ?

none in my '99 with 42K on the clock. I spoke with a guy this summer at the track, he mentioned his 2002 996 drank about 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles...

I am looking at 1 - 1.5 every 7,500 miles.
I am having mine changed at 15,000 as my dealer recomended. (is this not correct?)
They are using mobil 1.
I have 27,000 miles on the car.
It has been changed several times for time elapsed, I had it changed in March with 16,000 miles and my dealer said it would be good until my 30,000 mile service or 1 year. Have I been misled?

1-1.5 quarts every 7,500 mile is fine IMHO and within the range that Porsche considers normal.

I never trust anyone who works at the dealership to give correct maintenance information. When they do, I consider it guidelines. (Notice how I differentiated between "the dealership" and "the people who work there.")

Instead, I always refer back to my car's maintenance schedule. If you have lost yours, places like renntech.org have them available.

Change my oil every 7,500 miles or so and use 50/50 mix of 0-40 and 15-50 Mobil 1 in Southern California. Don't need to add any oil between changes, and do not track car. MY 2002 C4S.
