Porsche 996 TT Brakes on a C2 - Not a debate...

Like Andy mention... on very high speed bumps they will scrape.... but only on high speed when the shocks take the initial hit and when the car comes back down far enough they will scrape for an instant. But only on unique road and speed conditions... honestly Im surprised how well they've held up. I have a lift and look at the conditions of them and they dont take hits like the way the front spoiler does since it is mounted perpendicular to the front spoiler... not even close. On the city however... forget about it. Im on PSS9's.

Since this is a brake thread... Let's hear thoughts on stainless brake lines.
I picked up a set of goodridge DOT lines this week. My mechanic says those really aren't worthwhile either as the stock lines are very good. I trust him as he knows what he's doing. I got a good deal on the lines so I decided to buy them anyway.
Should I just take the lines and 7GT3 ducts back and get RS ducts instead? Are there any real benefits to the stainless lines other than they're much more durable in the event they get hit by debris. With as short as they are (as compared to motorcycle lines), I can't imagine you'd get that much swelling in the stock lines when under heavy braking.

25.25" from the ground to the wheel wells all around on 18" wheels... I'll take measurements from the wheel wheel to center line of the hub later if you like...
read this.... about SS lines.

Your brake upgrade thread was dead on the first day anyway when you got zero replies from anyone that's done it Might as well make good use of the space. Besides, these are relevant topics as you'll need lines for your new brakes and ducts are a good idea as well.

I got the GT3 ducts. I was told the SS lines were only good for track as for street use people don't check them enough and they can leak after usage. OEM ones will leak and its very visible so you know to replace them.

Dare I say it's because your bilsteins are too soft!!!
I've got twice the spring rate both front and rear that you've got so the high speed bump's aren't my issue...it's speed bumps. I generally don't scrape the 997 GT3 ducts on the street but I have if I'm not super careful going over speed bumps. As stated earlier I'm lower than stock GT3 ride height but not quite cup car height so that's probably got something to do with it.
There's a thread out there somewhere comparing all of the various ducts. The cup ducts are going to be the only ones that are Leagues better than the rest...but the stock 997 GT3 ducts are even cheaper than regular 996 ducts so why not.

Purplexd: Technicall this isn't off topic since you're gonna need upgraded cooling with your new brakes anyhow if you intend to use them on track.
...AND for what it's worth I'm still on the stock lines and havn't found a reason to need to upgrade to stainless on this car as of yet.

Soft is subjective, but you won't make a mistake riding in my car that it's on the bilsteins vs stock. It'll rattle your fillings loose going over bumpy roads. Mine are fairly cranked up though.

My car is very low and I've never scraped my factory ducts. How often do you scrape the GT3 ducts? That sounds odd as they're about the same size as the stock ducts.

If your car is still the same height as in these pictures I'm easily 15mm lower than you are. Again I have twice the spring rate you do too so take that for what it's worth.

Let's see a pic of your car. It must be slammed...
Yes, I'm still at the same ride height. I can't imagine being any lower as my tires would pretty much be tucked into the fender at that point. As of now I'm rubbing the front wheels at full lock.
