Did my 1st pcar mod. NAV Double DIN radio

finally got it in..
Pioneer AVIC-F700BT has GPS , Bluetooth, Ipod, and Voice recon
spend about 2 hours making the damn bezel by hand, the pioneer doesn't come with a trim piece that you can snap on aound the radio to cover up crappy work, so I had slowly hand sand it down to fit perfectly 4 hours ripping out the bose 6 channel amp, CD changer, and factory headunit, although I pwned myself out of 2 hours because I forgot to just snip the (GROUND ALARM BYPASS and actually grounded) dun backwards. anywho. here it is.

Nice job on the install. Been thinking of the Pioneer myself. How is the Nav? Does it speak out streets? Does pioneer have the plug in harness so you do not cut up the original harness?

Everything looks good except the cover around your switches... What is that? Makes the car look cheap IMO.

Congrats on the install, it looks good. The overlays are nasty.

agreed on the overlays, that will my next mod, PO did that looks like crap. I will most likely peel off and paint black when it warms up again along with the center console

idea for you: Instead of ABS, use some 1/8 or 1/4 inch MDF and cut to same size. Sand the wood face, and use a matt black paint. The finish will come out much more factory looking. The one I have pictured I finished in 15 minutes before the show the next day. But gives you an idea. You have to experiment with the paint colors, but the finishing touch is great!

While I might have stated it in a more tactful way, I have to agree with Ben on this one. Additionally, I liked the Pioneer but since your posting, I read unflattering remarks about its performance. What do you think about its startup time? Any other issues that you can share?

well i took the silver crap off , will post pics in AM. looks much better now. its working fine for me. takes about 20 seconds for the ipod to kick in and 40 secs till GPS loads. I am still confused about what is so "ghetto" about it? its the same process everyone else here is using.

I just installed the eclipse double din and bought the double din face plate off ebay. it really looks stock. It does not fit right in and will need a little filing to make it fit perfect. I will post pics tomorrow. The eclipse is an awsome unit. Its the same unit thats used in the higher end lexus. Another great unit is the alpine... I will post pics tomorrow and you will swear it is factory installed...
