Depdog's Ebay Muffler By-Pass Review
I decided to pick up a set of the ebay (velocity motoring) muffler by-passes. They were $170 shipped, so I figured why not? The price was right and the quality looked good. They arrived and looked exactly like the pictures.

I installed them today out in the driveway. I had done muffler swaps before and I had forgotten how un-fun it was My car is lowered so I couldn't get the jack stands under the normal rear jack points. I jacked it from that stubby engine part behind the oil pan (several techs told me that was okay) and put jack stands in strategic points in case the jack decided to quit.
As another member posted, it probably is easier to do this with the bumper off, it's just a lot more work to do that and becomes a 2 man job. I opted to just take the back wheels off and slip the mufflers out from the gap between the engine and the brakes rotors. It was a little tricky as it had been a while and I had forgotten how to make them squeeze through the hole. You essentially have to turn them on end and drop them through.
The by-passes fit perfect. No problems at all. The tips were quite nice and fit the holes perfectly. Honestly, I would prefer them even larger but I know most people would think that's a little ricey. You will need a 2 1/4" inch muffler clamp (pair) to hold the by-passes on.
The sound is subjective. However, I love it! Some of you Sally's will probably say it's too much I had the top down today in 6th gear and was still able to talk on the cell phone. It is loud, but not obnoxious. It will get people's attention when you run it up, but low rpm driving doesn't even turn a head.
So all in all, great product and a great price. I'm still not sure why Fabspeed charges $550 for the same exact product.
And now, presenting the worst video clip ever.... (sorry, the mic on my blackberry just wasn't able to keep up for some reason and couldn't record the motor at idle)

Thanks.
You're probably not a fan of cup cars either there Nancy boy.
All kidding aside, the mic on my phone stinks and doesn't really do a good job depicting the results. This mod certainly isn't for everybody though. But if you do like the way Porsche race cars sound at the track, then you'll love this. I'd say it's only 10% louder than my cargraphic export cans (which were loud) but with a way more aggressive sound. Strangely enough at idle and cruise it really doesn't sound much different than my CG mufflers.
Me thinks my CG cans will be on fleabay in the very near future.

Yep, town down. That's how we roll in the south during the wintertime. I think it was only 82 yesterday and I was scuba diving in West Palm on the day before. Sucks to be us I lived in New England for 23 years so I've paid my cold weather dues. I love it up north and I'm especially fond of Seattle but I just couldn't live in weather conditions like that any more. As a matter of fact, we're taking the vert to Church this morning, sans top

Thx for the write up. A few ?
In the last picture, are they not bolted on all the way or is the fit a little crooked on the drivers side?
Any opinion about performance? I've heard some say you lose low end. Of course, w/ the SC, you prob can't tell....
What about the weight savings over the mufflers?

They're not bolted in at that point.
I can't tell a performance difference but they sure look and sound good.
Depending on what mufflers you're running, figure on saving at least 30-50 pounds off the rear.

Minus the horrible gangsta rap in the background, it sounds good. I like yours too.
Don't forget my disclaimer that I shot mine with my blackberry.
