Help with Cab Top Needed

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I thought I would ask.

PROBLEM: Hard top will not raise or lower unless I use the key in the door to raise or lower the top.

ISSUE: As most know, to engage the hard-top to go up or down you must 'click' the handbrake up a notch or two. The problem I am experiencing is that the dash light that normally light's-up will no longer light up (fyi, the hand brake still works fine). I used to be able to "wiggle" the hand brake during the up & down movement so the light would come on and then I could use the normal in-car methid via the dash switch to operate the top. This has now ceased working and the e-brake dash light never illuminates.

SOLUTION?: Does anyone know what I should look for when I pull the console out? Loose Wires, Connections, Maybe a wood bracket missing?!? (you will get it if you read the other post...)

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Tim

Maybe it's the actual parking brake switch which is in the center console....

Very common. I had to replace mine as well. The switch is a wear item that will go out over time and will not allow you raise/lower the top without a functioning swithc that will illuminate "PARK" on the dash. Just need to replace it. There was a thread on this recently over on renntech.org that you may want to search for.

Thanks guys...

Any idea what the part looks like, or costs? I have never pulled the console to see what the "guts" look like underneath...
